The morning sun was a reluctant intruder, filtering through the grimy windows of the safe house. Its light did little to dispel the shadows clinging to the room, shadows that mirrored the ones in Max's mind. He stood at the table, staring at the papers spread out before him, each one a piece of the puzzle that was The Spider's operation.
Vivian and Elena were beside him, their faces drawn but determined. The events of the previous night had left them battered, but their resolve was stronger than ever. They had come too far to turn back now.
"Elena, pull up the financial records on that shell company," Max said, his voice rough with exhaustion.
Elena nodded, her fingers dancing over the keyboard of her laptop. "Got it. The company is called Meridian Holdings. It's registered to an address downtown."
