Chereads / The Immortal Eve [Apocalypse] / Chapter 66 - Star council

Chapter 66 - Star council

The dark sky above the wolf-like world was stained with the red glow of chaos and fire as Zadkiel, now a bringer of death, strode across the battlefield. His cold, lifeless eyes scanned the carnage as he slaughtered without mercy, his greatsword swinging with unrelenting force. Beside him, Victoria danced through the battlefield, her movements fluid as she delivered death with precision, her bloodied blade cutting through the air like a deadly symphony.

The wolf people, once a proud race, now scattered in terror. Some stood their ground, attacking Zadkiel and Victoria in desperation, while others fled in fear, their howls of anguish filling the air.

**Zadkiel**, expressionless, cut through a group of warriors, his sword cleaving through armor, flesh, and bone in a single stroke. Blood sprayed like mist, coating the ground as bodies fell around him. His strikes were methodical, calculated—showing no distinction between warriors, women, or children.

A young wolf child, barely able to walk, stumbled toward him, tears streaming down their fur-covered face, begging for mercy.

**Child:** "Please... don't... I don't want to die..."

Zadkiel paused for a moment, his cold eyes locking onto the child's terrified gaze. But the brief moment of hesitation vanished as he swung his sword downward without a word, silencing the child's pleas forever.

Behind him, Victoria smiled, her eyes gleaming with a twisted satisfaction as she drove her blade through the chest of an elder wolf who had tried to flee. Blood gushed from the wound as the elder's body crumpled to the ground.

**Victoria**, catching her breath from the chaos, looked over at Zadkiel, a wild grin spreading across her face. She approached him, standing over the fallen, and placed a hand on his shoulder.

**Victoria:** "We're unstoppable, you and I."

She leaned in and kissed him deeply, their bloodstained lips meeting in the midst of the massacre. The world around them continued to burn, the cries of the dying and the scent of death swirling in the air.

**Zadkiel**, indifferent to the carnage around him, turned to face the remaining wolf soldiers who charged at them in desperation. His expression did not change as he raised his greatsword once again, slicing through their ranks as if they were nothing more than pests to be eradicated. Limbs were severed, heads rolled across the ground, and blood soaked the earth beneath their feet.

Wolves that tried to flee were met with arrows from Victoria, who shot them down with ruthless efficiency. Their bodies fell in the distance, lifeless and broken.

A group of young wolf people, barely of fighting age, tried to gather courage, standing together in a last attempt to defend their village.

**Young Wolf Soldier:** "We can't let them destroy everything! For our people!"

They charged at Zadkiel, but it was futile. He moved through them like a force of nature, cutting them down with ease. Blood sprayed from their bodies as they were torn apart by his relentless strikes.

The once-vibrant world, filled with life and culture, was now a wasteland of death and destruction, the ground soaked with the blood of its people. Not a single soul was spared. Even those who begged, crying for their lives, were met with cold steel and finality.

The massacre was absolute, the genocide complete. Zadkiel stood amidst the bodies, his greatsword dripping with the blood of an entire species. His expression remained unchanged, emotionless, as he surveyed the devastation.

**Victoria**, wiping blood from her face, stood beside him, her chest rising and falling with exhilaration.

**Victoria:** "Another world down. We're getting closer to our vision of peace... aren't we?"

Zadkiel remained silent, his gaze locked on the horizon as fires consumed what was left of the once-thriving world. Despite the endless bloodshed, his eyes showed no signs of satisfaction, only the cold indifference of a man who had long since abandoned any trace of humanity.

Zadkiel, standing amidst the smoldering remains of the wolf-people's world, barely reacted to Victoria's words. His eyes remained fixed on the horizon, where the fires of their destruction still burned brightly. His greatsword, drenched in blood, hung loosely by his side as if the weight of the weapon and the massacre it wrought meant nothing to him.

**Victoria**, a bit more animated, wiped her hands on her cloak and repeated herself, her voice carrying a sense of urgency.

**Victoria:** "Zadkiel, did you hear me? We've been summoned by the Star Council."

For a moment, there was no response. The silence between them was almost unbearable, broken only by the crackling of fire and the distant wails of the dying.

Finally, without turning to face her, **Zadkiel** spoke, his voice low and emotionless.

**Zadkiel:** "I heard you."

He sheathed his bloodstained sword, showing no sign of remorse or hesitation. His movements were deliberate, almost mechanical, as he began to walk away from the scene of devastation, heading toward whatever new task awaited him from the Star Council.

Victoria, sensing his indifference, fell into step beside him. She glanced at him out of the corner of her eye, trying to gauge his mood, though she knew better than to expect much.

**Victoria:** "They're probably going to reward us for this... Another world wiped clean. We're getting closer to the peace we envisioned."

Zadkiel said nothing, his mind seemingly elsewhere, lost in thoughts too distant to reach. Despite all the bloodshed, despite the endless carnage they'd committed in the name of their twisted vision of peace, there was no fulfillment in his eyes, only the hollow look of a man who had lost everything and now moved through life like a ghost.

As they walked away from the burning world, heading towards their next mission, **Victoria** cast one last glance at the scene of the massacre. A small smile played on her lips, though it faded quickly when she looked back at Zadkiel.

**Victoria:** "Come on, Zadkiel. The Star Council doesn't like to be kept waiting."

With that, they both disappeared into the night, leaving the ruins of yet another world behind, their future entwined with the dark purpose of the Star Council's ever-growing vision.

As the **portal** opened, Zadkiel and Victoria stepped through into the vast, shadowy chamber of the **Star Council**. The air crackled with tension as five other council members stood in place, waiting for the arrival of their **master**. The walls were adorned with ancient runes and sigils, their soft glow casting eerie reflections across the room.

When **Law**, the master of the council, entered the chamber, the air itself seemed to still. His figure, cloaked in a finely tailored suit, was unnaturally imposing. His presence exuded a quiet yet overwhelming authority. He moved with calculated grace, heading directly to the grand **throne** that sat at the center of the room. Without hesitation, he took his seat and called forth **Victoria**.

**Law**: "My most ambitious and exceptional child."

Victoria stepped forward, her posture proud but wary, as if she was both honored and burdened by his words.

**Law**: "There is nothing more to teach you, just remember... Without Penacony's midnight hour, strip away all they hold dear and leave naught but the Remembrance's tomb!"

As Law spoke, a dark aura seemed to resonate through the chamber, his words vibrating with a sinister purpose.

The council member **Kaguya** chuckled, her voice dripping with arrogance.

**Kaguya**: "Haha, she won't be necessary. I could easily take on an entire world alone."

Her confidence filled the room, but **Victoria** was quick to temper it with her own cold pragmatism. Blue flames flickered to life around her, her power manifesting in the tense atmosphere.

**Victoria**: "Kaguya, a little pessimism might be wise... What if we all end up dead?"

The flames danced higher, burning with the intensity of her words.

Zadkiel, as emotionless as ever, cut through the tension with a calm, indifferent tone.

**Zadkiel**: "Shhhh... since when have those on the path of destruction feared death?"

His voice held the weight of countless battles and losses, a man who had faced death and pain but no longer flinched from them.

**Morrigan**, a dark and brooding member of the council, tapped her chin thoughtfully, her eyes narrowing in consideration.

**Morrigan**: "Still, it is wise to plan ahead."

**Erebus**, the most cautious of the council, added his voice to the conversation, though his tone was thick with doubt.

**Erebus**: "What is our fallback if things become perilous?"

With a single gesture, **Law** dismissed their concerns, his voice cutting through their questions like a sharp blade.

**Law**: "Fallback? Such a thing does not exist."

His gaze swept over the council, and his eyes gleamed with a fanatical certainty.

**Law**: "Destruction is brave and heroic. To cling to life is to delay in cowardice."

The blue flames around Victoria seemed to waver slightly as Law's words echoed through the room.

**Law**: "Relish Penacony, savor its invitation. Prepare this beautiful dream to welcome its new master."

He paused, letting the weight of his words sink in, his voice dropping to a reverent whisper.

**Law**: "Ifrit, Duke Inferno, Ever Flames Mansion."

In unison, all the members of the **Star Council**, including Zadkiel and Victoria, kneeled before their master.

Together, they pledged their loyalty, their voices unified in purpose.

**Council members**: "Your dream is our dream, and so it is the dream of the Star Council."

The atmosphere was charged with dark energy, a palpable sense of foreboding as the council prepared for the next stage of their apocalyptic mission.

As they knelt, **Zadkiel's** cold eyes scanned the room. He felt nothing—no remorse, no hesitation, no fear. Only the path of destruction lay ahead, and for now, that was all that mattered.
