Chapter 1 - A Rude Awakening

The city of California was livid as if it were cheering for my return. I had just returned from a vacation to Italy and was strangely feeling too energetic. I ran down the railings and jumped off the last few stairs of the plane ramp. "Master Lucius, please don't run off as soon as you land," shouted Patrick, my butler, as he came down the ramp. I decided to wait at the bottom for Patrick. Soon after Patrick reached the bottom of the ramp, a black car drove up to the two of them and the doors opened up. Two figures got out of the car and walked over to me and Patrick, one was my chauffeur, and the other man was an escort "Sir, your car awaits," said the taller man. I felt weird as he said it as if I were in danger. I have always been perceptive to smaller details like that, but this time it felt weird. I had this escort team since I was ten, being a child genius running a multi-billion dollar company at age 16. I decided it was nothing and got in the car, but the feeling didn't go away. I looked into the eyes of the driver, his name was Adrian, and his eyes seemed troubled, "Adrian, what did ya do today?" I casually asked, "Nothing in particular, just some meetings with clients." Normally speaking, when Adrian has a "meeting" he refers to driving someone places. Nothing out of the ordinary happened when speaking, but I picked up on a slight undertone of sadness. My escort looked like he usually did, laid back and tired. We got onto the highway and it was deserted, unlike earlier when we landed. I spotted other airplanes and cars the more we drove down the highway, but they seemed empty. I felt as if the world had stopped, that the stopwatch of the Earth had shut down and everything else alongside it. Soon we were getting off the highway, but we were met with a massive oil truck coming down the wrong lane, "Get out of the way!" I screamed, and the car kept going. what is happening? Are we going to die? the thoughts wouldn't stop coming into my head. Adrian and my bodyguard hopped out of the car and ran off, "Patrick grab the wheel, and drive us out of here!" the car drifted, but it was too late, the truck exploded and fire and metal flew everywhere. The car started rolling over and crashing. For a moment all I saw was fire and broken glass, then I blinked and was somewhere else.

Somewhere I didn't know. There were tall trees, flowers everywhere, and birds singing. I tried to get up but couldn't find the strength. The only thing I felt I could do was move my head and arms. I heard laughing and talking, but I couldn't figure out what language the talking was from. Soon two people came into view, one was a tall man with black scruffy hair and a short beard, and the other was a beautiful female with long silver hair and gorgeous yellow eyes with pointy ears. They started talking to me in an unknown language and making weird faces as if to make me laugh. The man picked me up and helped me up high. The man had a massive smile as he was laughing and spinning around with me in his arms.

(Three weeks later)

I came to realize, I am somewhere straight out of a comic book. I also came to realize that I died in the car crash and somehow ended up in the body of a baby in this world. My father figure in this world is a human, like me, but my mother is an elf. I felt that some sort of god was on my side, and he was saying, "Hey get back up in a different life" and then throwing me into a different world. Recently I moved into an elven village and have been hearing more and more of the language. I have started to catch onto the language a bit but I haven't been able to read books, so I can't read the language yet.

I have gained the strength to walk and talk. I have been spending most of my time reading about the history of this world and of the elves. I certainly don't agree with the elves thinking they thought. The elves think about others first and they don't condone violence. They are always level-headed and are always kind and considerate. Even the kids never say anything mean.

A long time ago there was only one elvish race. One day a devil roamed into the Great Forest of Holicora and found an elf. The devil told the elf that he would give him power if he took a group of elves and ran off to create a different, darker race of elves. The elf agreed, kidnapped half of the elves, and ran off, thus creating the dark elves. I often thought to myself that I would probably fit in better with the dark elves rather than the "goody two shoes" race of elves.

I have started researching magic. The magic in this world is exactly what I expected. You are given a magic type at birth, but it doesn't show up until you are around 10. You can still use magic, just not the type of magic you are gifted. For example, you could cast barriers, healing magic, and other things. There is also a difference between magic power and magic capacity. Magic capacity is, as it sounds, how much magic you can produce. Your magic also goes down the more activities you do because your mind subconsciously excretes leftover magic in your body. Magic power is the power you can give your magic to do certain things.

My favorite magic to research is curse magic. Curse magic works by uttering incantations then the curse appears. Curses can range from sickness to black magic. There are loads of curses that I still want to learn, but I have time to study.
