Chapter 28 - She Walked Gently Towards the Bed

Ethan Wraith drove the car, while Sophia Mercer lay in the passenger seat, drowsy.

After driving for half a day and then taking a ride in this devil's car, she, who always knew how to maintain her image in public, actually threw up in front of a stranger.

Now, exhausted of all her energy, she was falling asleep.

"See, I told you to fasten your seat belt, but you said no," Ethan said grumpily. Sophia wanted to sit up and argue with him, but she was ultimately too weak.

She gave him a weak glare. "How dare you blame me? Who knew you drove so terrifyingly? You just flew over that high hill – is that driving? That's playing with your life." "Taking people's money, racing for people.

I've always been a man of my word. I took your money, so I have to do a good job for you. That's the principle of our industry," Ethan said with a smile.

"Where do you live? I need to sleep after I take you back." Sophia showed a troubled expression. She whispered, "I have nowhere to go." "Nowhere to go? Aren't you going home?"

"My home is not in this city. I was upset at the time, so I ran all the way here. Now it will take several hours to get back. But I'm so sleepy, I want to sleep first." Sophia's eyes closed slightly as she spoke, her delicate face showing some fatigue, it seemed she was really tired.

"Then I'll take you to a hotel – you can afford to drive such an expensive car, you can definitely afford to stay in a hotel, right? I can't afford to pay your rent,"

Ethan quickly drew a line with her. These days, some beautiful women like to use their capital to take advantage of men. Ethan was no fool.

Sophia panicked, "No, I can't go to a hotel. I – I just can't."

Ethan drove the car to the gate of the compound where he lived, turned off the engine, and said to Sophia, "Okay, I'm home. Go wherever you want, goodbye."

He pulled open the car door and was about to get out, he was really too sleepy, and he had to work at night, so he had to get some rest quickly.

Just as he was about to get out of the car, he stopped again and looked at Sophia blankly. "What do you want to do?"

Sophia pulled Ethan's clothes, raised her small face, and said pitifully, "Can I go to your house to rest for a while? Just a little while. I'll leave at dawn."

"No. There's only one bed in my house."

"Then I'll sleep in the bed and you sleep on the sofa."

"That's even worse." Ethan turned to leave again. "Wait – five hundred USD for one night, how about that?" Sophia gritted her teeth and said bitterly. With her looks and status, many people had invited her to stay at their place for a night, and she didn't even bother to go, but she never expected that one day she would have to beg this hooligan humbly.

"At least a thousand." "Deal." Ethan reached out his hand, and only after the two had settled the money did he lead Sophia upstairs.

Just kidding, if he didn't collect the money first, what if she changed her mind after entering the door? – However, his socks really needed to be washed, they had been soaking for a week.

Alas, Sophia was busy reviewing recently, and he couldn't bear to disturb her. Sophia carefully followed Ethan up the dark stairs, complaining, "Hey, why don't you know how to be gentle with a lady? You're always haggling over every penny with a woman."

"Can I not haggle? I have a family to support, old and young," Ethan said, curling his lips. "Ah? You have old and young?" Sophia stopped. "Is it convenient for me to go to your house?"

"It's fine. It's convenient." Ethan didn't stop, took out his key and opened the door, saying to Sophia, "This is it, are you satisfied?"

Sophia struggled to look around the simple low-rent house, swallowed, and smiled bitterly, "Satisfied. I just need to lie down for a while anyway. I'm so sleepy – where's your wife?"

"Under the bed." Ethan smiled and pointed under the bed.

"Ah? You—" Sophia's drowsiness was swept away, and she pointed at Ethan in disbelief. A picture appeared in her little head: a man strangled his wife with a rope, then stuffed her under the bed, and cut a piece every day when he cooked – did she enter the home of a murderous demon?

"Haha, don't be nervous. My wife is Eva Elfie – a very famous actress. You definitely don't know her." "Humph. Pervert." Sophia's answer showed that she also knew this actress. Ethan pointed to the wooden bed and said, "You can sleep here." Sophia looked at the small space and asked uneasily, "What about you?"

"I'll sleep next to you – don't worry, I won't take advantage of you. You sleep on this end, I sleep on that end." Sophia exclaimed, "How can that be? We – we – how can we sleep in the same bed." Ethan glared, his face full of hurt.

"What do you mean? Do you think I'm the kind of villain who would take advantage of the opportunity? I wanted to take you to a hotel, you insisted on following me home, and now you're afraid I'll take advantage of you – I'm going to take a shower, you're not allowed to peek at me. Also, the door is unlocked, it's up to you to stay or leave."

Ethan said, took a pair of shorts and went into the bathroom, leaving Sophia dumbfounded. This man was too shameless. Another wave of drowsiness hit, and although the jerk's attitude made her feel wronged, she still didn't have the motivation to open the door.

Going out to find a new hotel or returning to the provincial capital would take too much time. Forget it, sleep first and talk later.

Sophia's eyes closed vaguely as she thought about it, and she couldn't open them again. Sophia was awakened by the sound of Ethan opening the door, the sound had been as careful as possible.

In a strange place, on a strange bed, and with a strange man, although she was sleepy, she didn't dare to sleep too soundly. One misstep could lead to eternal regret.

"Why aren't you asleep yet?" Ethan walked out wearing summer beach shorts and bare-chested, his well-proportioned muscles gleaming under the light as if they had been smeared with oil. His handsome face, his mischievous smile, his amazing racing skills, his nonchalant attitude – and his disregard for beautiful women – suddenly made Sophia interested in this man, or perhaps boy.

Who was he? "I – I want to take a shower, or I won't be able to sleep." What Sophia said was true, she, who was known for her cleanliness, took several showers every day, and lying on this bed today had already made her feel very uncomfortable, if she didn't take a shower again, she really couldn't stand it.

"Five hundred USD extra for a shower – not including pajamas. Of course, you can't buy them even if you pay."

"Why do you always talk about money? It's too tacky," Sophia said, pouting angrily. "I can't help it, I have to raise my sons, mother f**ker where did you two run off to? Hurry up and come out to eat," Ethan said, crawling around on the floor looking everywhere. "What are you looking for?" "My sons." "Your sons?"

"Yeah. Look—" Ethan pointed to the two little turtles who had heard the sound and crawled out from under the bed one after another. "—" "Do you have any women's pajamas I can borrow?" Sophia's face turned red as she said this.

"Hehe, no. You think I run a lingerie store?" "Then can I borrow a pair of men's pajamas that you haven't worn?" "I don't have those either, I never wear those things – I just don't understand, why do you have to wear an extra layer of clothes when you sleep, isn't it uncomfortable? I'm still used to sleeping naked – without pajamas,"

Ethan usually liked to sleep in only a pair of small underpants, today because there was a beautiful woman present, he deliberately added a pair of big shorts on the outside. "Then do you have a clean shirt?" "I do have this, all my clothes are very clean." Ethan said, pulling out a pile of shirts from the canvas wardrobe and throwing them on the bed, "Pick one yourself. One hundred USD a piece, small business, no bargaining or credit."

Sophia frowned and picked for a while, then shook her head. "I mean clean." "These are all clean. I've only worn them once. Not even for two days yet." "—" Sophia took Taylor White's new shirt that she had bought for Ethan, at the cost of two hundred USD. When the rustling sound of running water came from the bathroom, Ethan's heart skipped a beat.

A beauty was bathing. To look or not to look? Nonsense, of course he would look. What's the difference between peeping at one and peeping at ten? Weren't they all crimes?

Ethan tiptoed towards the bathroom door, looked up and down for a while, and couldn't help but secretly regret in his heart, he had been busy peeping through the wall, why hadn't he thought about peeping at the scenery in his own bathroom one day?

It would have been great to dig a hole in the door. "Bang." The bathroom door opened. Sophia stood by the door, fully dressed, her face ashen: "Mr. Gentleman, is there anything you need outside?"

"Uh—" This woman was too insidious, she actually turned on the shower wearing clothes to lure him in, her heart was evil. "Oh, nothing, I just wanted to ask if the temperature was right." "It's summer, I don't need the temperature."

"Oh, then I'm relieved." Ethan nodded seriously and turned over to lie on the bed. When Sophia came out, Ethan was already asleep in bed. He was sound asleep, drooling all over the place. Sophia stood hesitantly at the door, did she really have to share a bed with him?

What if he took advantage of the opportunity to assault her? After taking a shower, drowsiness came flooding in like a tide, and Sophia no longer had the heart to think so much, she walked gently towards the bed.
