Chapter 11 - First Day to Company

Ethan Wraith arrived at the WestMoon City building at 10 am, already an hour late for his first day of work. As he stepped out of the elevator on the 19th floor, he was greeted by a beautiful woman, Fiona Swift, who rushed over to him.

"Ethan, you're finally here! You're an hour late. I thought you weren't coming," Fiona said, leading Ethan through the corridors.

"Sorry, Fiona. The traffic was terrible today. It won't happen again," Ethan apologized, smiling sheepishly. He was surprised that Fiona remembered him from the job fair.

"Yeah, there won't be a next time. You're already making a bad impression on your first day. You need training, and I'm not sure you understand basic etiquette," Fiona said sternly.

The two of them arrived at a conference room door, where Fiona pointed inside and told Ethan to go in. "You're new here, so introduce yourself." With that, she hurried off, leaving Ethan standing at the door.

Ethan listened for a moment, trying to make out what was being said inside, but couldn't quite catch the words. He pushed open the door and entered the crowded conference room, where everyone turned to stare at him. At the front of the room, a young woman in a white business suit stood at the podium, holding a marker.

Ethan smiled apologetically at the woman and began to make his way to an empty chair, but was stopped by her voice. "Halt!"

Ethan froze, unsure what to do. "Who are you?" the woman asked.

"I'm Ethan Wraith."

"What brings you here?"

"I'm here for training."

"Are you a new employee?"

Ethan chuckled. "You're really clever to have guessed that." The room erupted in laughter.

The trainer's face turned bright red, and she glared at Ethan. "Do you think you're funny?"

"The laughter from everyone else has already answered your question," Ethan replied, bowing his head.

The trainer took a few deep breaths, trying to calm down. "You're an hour and three minutes late. What's your excuse?"

"Traffic."

"That's too common an excuse."

"Food poisoning."

The trainer raised an eyebrow. "You don't look like you're suffering from food poisoning. That excuse is clearly false. I won't accept it. This is your last chance."

Ethan leaned in close to the trainer and whispered, "Do you need a sanitary napkin?"

The trainer's eyebrows twitched violently, and she took a deep breath before smiling sweetly. "Get out!"

"What do you mean? " Ethan asked, confused.

The trainer's voice rose an octave. "You're fired!"

Ethan looked puzzled. "What? You can't just fire me. You're just a trainer, and we're both just employees."

"Suppose the company's CEO was my father? Would I have the authority then?"

Ethan's eyes widened, and he burst out laughing. "Ah, I see. I've decided to stay at this company. Your professionalism and work attitude really impress me. Miss, nice to meet you, I'm Ethan Wraith, the new employee. Actually, I arrived at the company building at 9 am this morning and deliberately came late to test your patience. You know, in the service industry, we need to be adaptable and handle all kinds of customers."

The trainer's face fell. "I've decided not to let you stay."

"Miss, you're really disappointing me. Your calm demeanor earlier impressed me, but now you're being petty. You've dropped from 99 points to 59 in my book."

"I don't care."

"I do. I can't bear to see a beautiful woman become a petty, nitpicking person. Okay, I'll tell you the truth. I'm from a single-parent family, and my father passed away. My mother and I rely on each other, and we're poor. I couldn't afford to go to school, so I work during the day and study at night. Yesterday, I was so excited to start working at WestMoon City that I borrowed a book on hotel service etiquette and stayed up late reading it. I didn't expect to have professional training before starting work, so I made up some excuses earlier. I really need this job, and I apologize for hurting you. Please give me another chance."

The trainer's expression softened. "Did you really study hotel service etiquette last night?"

"I don't believe you. Let me test you. What are the three types of bows in a five-star hotel, and how do you use them?"

Ethan replied, "15 degrees, 45 degrees, and 90 degrees. The 15-degree bow is used when the customer is two meters away, the 45-degree bow is used when the customer is between 1.5 and 2 meters away, and the 90-degree bow is used when the customer is between 75 centimeters and 1 meter away."

The trainer nodded slightly. "What is the standard posture for serving food?"

Ethan demonstrated the correct posture.

The trainer smiled. "Alright, I'll give you another chance. Just be more serious during work hours, and don't be so careless."

"Okay, I'll only use my hands and not my mouth during work hours."

"That's not necessary. Just don't be silly."

"But you get angry when I talk."

"It's okay, just speak your mind. I'm not that petty."

"Really? Then I'll say it. Your zipper is open in the back."
