Clifford distanced himself from the creature thrashing and rolling on the ground to rid itself of the purple flames. Although it seemed to be drowning in pain, Clifford noted that the fire barely scratched its skin. This was expected since the creature was physically equivalent to a seventh-stage cultivator.
'Hmm, it's probably experiencing such pain for the first time. Otherwise, there's no reason to overreact like this.' Nodding his head, Clifford pushed his thoughts aside, hoping the creature would give him its full attention by now. Soon enough, the beast rose, seemingly pissed off, followed by the familiar killing intent pressing on Clifford's back once again.
