Chapter 408 - Untitled

Ren was at home watching Ultraman Dyna.

Even though his company produced it and he had personally developed the story, he still found it enjoyable—just like how he could rewatch his favorite shows in the past.

"Wow, Dyna is really getting to the finale now…"

Elsewhere, Daniel was also sitting in front of his TV, waiting for Ultraman Dyna to start, feeling a bit nostalgic.

Honestly, the protagonist, Asuka, had been pretty hard for many fans to like during the show's early episodes. People just couldn't understand how someone with such glaring character flaws could be chosen by the Light and become Ultraman Dyna.

How did he even deserve it?

Early on, Asuka wasn't exactly endearing. But as the series progressed, he gradually developed into a reliable Ultra Warrior, changing the minds of many viewers. The series itself was packed with action, warmth, plot twists, and moments that brought the characters to life. Some episodes honored previous Ultraman stories, while others veered into eerie and unexpected territory, creating an emotional and layered experience.

Though Daniel felt it wasn't quite on the level of Ultraman Tiga, he still saw it as an above-average series. While it shared Tiga's world, it was distinct in its own style and charm. At first, the Dyna storyline seemed to take on a lighter, more humorous tone, especially in the beginning and middle. But as things progressed, Daniel could feel the story getting heavier.

In fact, the last episode had him feeling a growing sense of tension.

Then, as the familiar OP kicked in, Ultraman Dyna's grand finale began.

As expected, the finale drew in a big audience. The opening theme for Dyna faded, and the episode started.

"I just want to protect you!"

"But I just want to be myself…"

It opened with a continuation from the previous battle, where Asuka saved Lina and embraced her in the Kurak plane.

For fans who hadn't seen Asuka grow up, this scene would've left them rubbing their eyes in disbelief.

Could this be the same guy?

And the surprises didn't stop there.

When the evil Sphere aliens closed in on the major cities, aiming to absorb humanity, Asuka—the one who used to rush headlong into danger—was the one who proposed a strategy to defeat them.

Incredible!

Asuka actually used his brain!

Many fans pinched themselves to make sure they weren't dreaming. Up until now, Asuka's style had been all about reckless courage, jumping in headfirst without thinking things through. But now, he'd come up with a plan?

"Fire the Neo Max Cannon at Dyna!" Asuka said.

Ren's Ultraman Dyna diverged a bit from the original series.

For example, there was an earlier episode, Episode 31, "True and False Dyna," which Ren had shifted in the storyline to an earlier part of the show instead of saving it for the finale.

In the original, the TPC had created an asteroid-busting superweapon called the Neo Max Cannon, which, combined with Dyna's Soljet Beam, was used to take down the villainous Mother Sphere, saving humanity and the solar system.

But Ren felt that the original Dyna ending was a bit abrupt for his Ultraman Dyna.

In the original, after the Mother Sphere was destroyed, Dyna was pulled into a black hole by its collapsing gravity, following the same path as his father, who had also disappeared into the void. The intention was to give fans an emotional ending, but for Ren's Dyna, he wanted something a bit more impactful.

Given the world he'd built, Ren's TPC was more advanced than ever. They'd gathered data from a variety of Ultra Warriors: Ultraman Tiga, the three Dark Ultras, and the two other giant stone statues from Tiga's early battles. The TPC had collected samples of all these powers and used them to develop their technology.

But instead of sticking with the original approach, Ren crafted a new finale: the TPC used these resources to create an upgraded version of the Neo Max Cannon. Their plan was to fire it directly into the black hole, hoping to eliminate it.

However, Asuka believed the attack wouldn't work as intended and instead suggested that they target Dyna himself with the weapon.

Initially, the team thought he'd lost his mind. Why would he ask them to attack Dyna?

But trusting Asuka, the captain revealed Asuka's identity as Dyna, convincing the other team members. Fans watching at home couldn't resist commenting:

"Why…"

"Why is it always the captain who figures out the Ultra's identity first?"

After a few laughs, the plot continued. The Super Victory Team decided to follow Asuka's plan to strengthen Dyna for the final showdown against the Sphere near Mars.

The reason Asuka came up with this idea had a lot to do with his encounter on Mars with Daigo, the man who had once been Ultraman Tiga!

The two talked for a long time, with Asuka deeply curious about Daigo's experiences as Tiga.

As Daigo described his climactic battle against Gatanozoa, Asuka was fascinated to learn how, in Tiga's darkest moment, humanity had helped him revive through the power of their own light.

Since Asuka's Miracle Type form had previously shown it could absorb other sources of energy, he thought it might be worth trying this out himself.

If it worked, they'd have a fighting chance.

He would make this fight his own.
