Chapter 389 - Goodbye, Grandpa

"Goodbye, Grandpa. After hundreds of years of writhing in the shadows, you must be tired, right? It's okay to disappear now."

As Sakura inserted her fingers deep into her chest, reaching into her nerves and pulling out an insect, many viewers felt a chill run down their spines.

"This is just…"

"Sakura's completely broken now…"

Even though watching Sakura kill Zouken was deeply satisfying for the audience, seeing a young girl dig into her own heart, smiling as if it were nothing, was unsettling, even for Sakura's fans.

"Ha… Haha!"

As the girl stared at the blood in her palm, laughing emptily like a puppet with its strings cut, the audience fell silent.

Was Sakura terrifying in that moment?

Of course, she was.

But…

It almost wasn't surprising to the viewers.

After all, this girl had endured so much trauma. Even if it were a man in her place, he wouldn't have handled it as well as she did.

Or rather, many wouldn't have even survived.

Daniel thought to himself that if he had been in Sakura's place, he would've broken down long ago—there's no way he could have made it this far.

"Porter-sensei… You really love making people suffer, huh…"

In Daniel's mind, while the old worm was despicable, the Porter, who had crafted this storyline, wasn't much better. They both seemed to share a taste for twisted scenarios.

Suddenly, Daniel thought of Kirei.

If Zouken had managed to come back, could Kirei also still be alive?

But just as Daniel was pondering this, the gasps from the audience pulled him back to the screen.

The real fight had started! Rider was battling Saber Alter!

Two figures clashed fiercely.

One moved at high speed, skimming the ground, darting up, down, left, and right, like a dancing butterfly targeting its prey. Her cherry-colored hair flowed behind her like the tail of a shooting star.

The other figure, clad in heavy black armor, stood firm, blocking each attack with unshakeable calmness.

Unfortunately, Saber Alter's strength was far superior!

In terms of swordsmanship, stamina, and magic…

Rider had no advantage except for her speed. But how long could she maintain it?

With every attack blocked, Rider's stamina dwindled, and her speed would eventually falter.

When that happened, her fate would be to be blasted away by Saber Alter's dark Excalibur.

As viewers watched, many felt the urge to curse, "She's way too strong!"

How were Shirou and his allies supposed to win against such an opponent?

While many people liked Saber, they still wanted to see Shirou save the tragic Sakura.

After all, in Fate/Stay Night's Heaven's Feel route, Shirou and Sakura's relationship had been beautifully portrayed by Ren.

Not only was Sakura's story well developed, but even Rin and Illya's paths were also explored—though not as deeply as Sakura's, which was why, despite everything, so many still sympathized with her.

The audience's hearts tightened in suspense.

But then, a brief flashback in the movie made everyone breathe a sigh of relief.

Shirou and Rider had already anticipated the strength gap between their team and Sakura's side.

The loss of Rider's duel against Saber Alter was something both Shirou and Rider had expected.

So why did they still choose to fight?

It wasn't because Shirou knew he was the protagonist.

"Noble Phantasm—"

That's right!

Rider began activating her Noble Phantasm!

Seeing Rider's move, Saber Alter responded immediately.

And this was where Shirou's role came into play!

The bandages on his arm unraveled once more.

"Projection… Begin…"

"Rho Aias!"

In an instant, a flower-shaped barrier blossomed in front of Shirou and Rider, blocking Saber Alter's dark Excalibur.

As they say, your enemy knows you best—not just a friend.

Especially when that enemy was once a comrade.

Shirou knew Saber Alter inside and out, so he understood that if Rider and Saber Alter clashed with their Noble Phantasms, Saber Alter would undoubtedly come out on top.

So, instead, he filled in the gap!

Using Rho Aias to absorb the impact of Saber Alter's Noble Phantasm, allowing Rider to land the final blow!

"Bellerophon!"

As Rho Aias shattered, Rider's Noble Phantasm clashed with Saber Alter's.

The sheer force of the clash sent debris flying everywhere, and the audience couldn't help but feel their blood boil, wishing they could unleash a Noble Phantasm themselves!

"Boom!"

Both Servants were sent flying from the massive explosion.

Rider crashed into a wall, unable to move, while Saber Alter, having taken the brunt of the impact, struggled to get up from the crater she was lying in.

"She's still not down?"

"Man, the legendary King Arthur is seriously tough!"

The audience's anxiety only grew.

Had Shirou's team still lost, even after all that? Would they have to rely on some kind of protagonist's luck to win?

"Saber!!!"

Just as many were starting to lose hope, a figure suddenly leaped onto Saber Alter, shouting her name. He thrust a projected sword into her heart.

"Shirou…"

Saber Alter slowly lifted her head to look at Shirou.

"Thank you… I wonder how long you've been helping me…"

At that moment, memories flashed through Shirou's mind—his time spent with the real Saber since the day he summoned her—but he didn't shed a tear.

This was the path he had chosen.

He had decided to save Sakura, even if it meant killing those close to him, including this girl who had protected him until the very end.

This was one of the key differences from the Spring Song movie in his previous world.

In the original movie, many parts were heavily cut down, so Ren had chosen to add in additional content here.

Meanwhile, the battle between the two sisters was also unfolding.

In the original Spring Song movie, the showdown between the sisters felt rushed.

Although this part should've been a major climax, Ren felt that the movie in his previous world didn't do it justice. Especially the part where Rin embraced Sakura didn't feel as impactful as in the game, so Ren made some adjustments.

"That sword is so powerful, and it's just a knockoff!"

Watching Rin wield the Jewel Sword like she was in Dynasty Warriors, Daniel couldn't help but be amazed.

If even a counterfeit Jewel Sword could hold its own against the current Sakura, how would the original compare? How would it measure up against the weapon of a certain "good citizen"?
