Kindergarten
It was recess time.
"Heh heh heh, ha ha ha! Muda muda!" Yueyue was wearing the same outfit as Liliasphere, a character Ren had bought for her. She covered one eye with her hand and laughed heartily.
Surrounding her were a few little girls holding magic wands, their faces showing disbelief.
"How is this possible?"
"Why?"
"How can it block our attack?"
"Heh heh, you losers, your attack is just..." Yueyue, acting as Liliasphere, was about to continue when she stopped and turned around. "Um... Niu Niu, I was just reciting lines from the show. You don't have to bark like a dog."
"Huh?" The little girl in a flower dress, Niu Niu, responded timidly, "But... but I didn't say anything. It wasn't me. And I didn't hear any sound."
"Huh?" Yueyue looked even more confused.
"What's wrong?"
"Did something happen?"
"Yueyue, what sound? We didn't hear anything. Maybe you imagined it?"
The other little girls asked Yueyue as she looked puzzled. "Let's keep playing."
"But I really did hear a sound..." Yueyue said, putting her finger to her lips. "Shh, listen. There's really a sound."
Seeing her serious expression, the others fell silent.
"Woof woof, arf!"
Sure enough, they heard the faint sound of a puppy.
"Let's go see!" After a moment, Yueyue figured out the direction of the sound and waved her hand.
She had a bit of a leader vibe as she led her little friends toward the source of the sound.
Soon, they reached their destination and searched around.
"Over here!"
A girl who had crawled into the bushes called out loudly.
"What is it?"
"Did you find it?"
The little group excitedly gathered around. "Wow! It's so cute!"
A small hole had appeared in the kindergarten's iron fence. Outside were two white dogs, one big and one small.
The big dog barked softly, wagging its tail as it saw the children. It picked up the puppy in its mouth and nudged it through the hole in the fence.
"Woof!" The big white dog barked again, wagging its tail before turning and walking away reluctantly, looking back at its puppy with each step.
The kids were puzzled.
"Why did the big dog leave its puppy here?"
"Maybe it doesn't want the puppy anymore?"
"The poor little puppy..."
The girls all felt sorry for the puppy.
They looked at each other, unsure of what to do. "What should we do?"
"Should we tell the teacher?" Niu Niu suggested. She thought it was best to tell an adult about such things.
"No! If we tell the teacher, they might throw the puppy away!"
"...Then should we keep it ourselves?" A chubby girl looked at the puppy. "If we leave it here, the puppy might die!"
"But my mom doesn't like dogs..."
"Neither does mine..."
"My house already has a cat. My mom won't let me keep a dog. I heard dogs eat cats!"
"Let's keep it at kindergarten?"
"No way! If the teacher finds out, we'll be in trouble."
The kids discussed back and forth but couldn't come to a decision.
Yueyue stared at the little white dog, struggling with her thoughts.
She really wanted a puppy.
Her grandpa had promised her one before, but her mom didn't agree.
She had given up on the idea, but seeing another puppy reignited her desire.
But if her mom found out, it wouldn't be good! Yueyue didn't know what to do.
"Oh, I know! Dad!"
Yueyue suddenly thought of her dad. But soon, she felt downcast again.
She couldn't rely on her dad. After all, her dad was afraid of her mom.
She had seen her mom making her dad sleep on the floor recently.
But she really wanted a puppy.
"Ring ring ring"
Just then, the bell rang. "Students, class time!"
The kids became more anxious. "What should we do? We can't just leave it here!"
"I'll take care of it!" In a moment of determination, Yueyue said, biting her lip. She picked up the puppy, stuffed it inside her clothes, and ran towards the classroom.
Her house was big, with some rooms not in use. If she hid the puppy in one, her parents might not find it!
…
At Ren's house
"Goodbye, Teacher."
The assistants waved to Ren.
"Be safe on the way home," Ren responded.
At that moment, Yueyue ran up with her backpack. "Goodbye, Uncle, goodbye, sisters!"
"..." This made Ma Tao's mouth twitch.
Why did this kid call the older women "sisters" but call him "uncle"?
"Yueyue, can you call me brother instead of uncle?"
"Sure, Uncle. Got it, Uncle!" Yueyue seemed in a hurry and ran into the house, leaving the others laughing.
"Give it up, Ma Tao. You look like an uncle with your thirty-year-old face," Jia Yun said, patting his shoulder.
Ma Tao: "..."
Meanwhile...
Yueyue changed her shoes and rushed upstairs, glancing at Ren, who was still talking with the assistants. Seeing he hadn't noticed, she breathed a sigh of relief and patted her chest.
"Phew..."
She then went into a rarely used room and took out the puppy.
Seeing the furry little body, Yueyue giggled. "So cute!"
She reached out and poked the puppy.
"Arf woof~" The puppy, sensing Yueyue's affection, wagged its little tail and started licking her hand.
.().
"Hehe, that tickles!" Yueyue laughed as the puppy licked her.
Suddenly, she remembered something. "Oh, you must be hungry! I'll get you something to eat!"
She said, running out in her slippers.
