Chapter 3 - Pikachu

One afternoon, little Yuta had been clinging to him.

Jada couldn't help but feel guilty as she watched the little girl.

From the smiles on the faces of both Yuta as she clung to Ren and when they played together, it was clear that having a father made her much happier.

This made her heave a deep sigh. Indeed, children needed the presence of both parents; without either one, a child's childhood wouldn't be as happy and complete.

Ren was unaware of Jada's thoughts, as he was just playing with the little girl.

It must be said that a child was a sign of a man's maturity.

Even though he hadn't been spending time with Yuta, upon realizing that she was his own flesh and blood, Ren naturally and unhesitatingly stepped into the role of a father when he saw the little girl.

It was a pity... that there was no wife.

Thinking of this, Ren glanced at Jada.

She was very attractive, and from the brief time together earlier, it was apparent that this woman was quite nice.

She was wealthy, and had a good personality...

If he could pursue her successfully, that would be great.

However, she said she didn't want to get married... Ren thought it over and decided to just go with the flow. At least now they had a child, giving them a common topic. Who knew, maybe slowly she would come to appreciate him?

The little girl didn't have so many elaborate thoughts; maybe because she was exhausted, she was currently sitting shoulder to shoulder with Ren on the sofa, her little feet dangling in mid-air.

Suddenly, the little girl looked at Ren, her eyes widening in surprise. "Dad, why is your surname 'Hao' while Mom and I have a different surname? All my classmates have the same surname as their dads!"

Jada fell silent at this.

In the past, she had decided to have the child take her surname since she intended to raise her alone.

And speaking of which... suddenly, Jada thought of something, so she glanced at Ren and then at Yuta beside her, deciding to wait until later that evening to bring it up with him.

But for now, it was time to address the little girl's question. So Jada sat down beside Yuta, put her arm around her, and said gently, "That's because Mommy is more powerful than Daddy. If you don't believe me, ask your friends at daycare. Those who have the same surname as their dads have more money. In our family, Mommy is the one with more money."

Upon hearing this, little Yuta's brain quickly processed the information, and then her eyes widened.

That made sense!

She often heard the kids at her daycare say that their dads were bosses and such, and they had the same surname as their dads!

So she curiously looked Ren up and down, nodding occasionally, showing a look of understanding.

This made Jada curious and she patted the little girl's head, asking, "What's wrong, Yuta? Staring at Dad the whole time?"

"So Dad is the 'freeloader' I see on TV!! I saw it for the first time in real life!" The little girl's eyes lit up as if she had spotted a rare beast.

This made Ren's mouth twitch.

What's wrong with being a "freeloader"? Am I eating your rice?

Thinking of this, Ren suddenly paused; it seemed like he was indeed eating her rice... but then again, isn't it now his rice too!

He was proud! Equality between men and women is now established. Who says a man can't live off a woman?

However, being called a "freeloader" by his own daughter, Ren suddenly felt like a failure as a transmigrator.

Glancing at the system, Ren thought it over and ultimately decided to continue being a deadbeat.

However, he couldn't let his daughter continue with this topic; otherwise, she might one day tell her friends, "My dad is a freeloader!"

Just thinking of this made Ren's head ache. Indeed, he needed to make the little girl forget about this matter.

So he went into the room, took out some paper and a pen, and began to draw.

The little girl, who had been chatting with Jada, quickly saw what Ren was doing. She dashed over to him, plonked her chubby chin on Ren's shoulder, and asked excitedly, "Dad what are you doing?"

Even Jada was curious and joined in looking, although, being a woman, she held a bit of a haughty air and didn't ask directly like the little girl.

Ren gently patted the little girl's head and smiled, saying, "Daddy's drawing, sweetheart."

"What are you drawing?"

"Um, lots and lots of adorable creatures, Daddy will teach you."

"Wow, cute creatures? Are they like me?" The little girl eagerly looked on, "Hurry, hurry, Yueyue wants to see!"

Ren smiled and got straight to it.

It must be said that the drawing skills provided by the system were top-notch. Despite Ren describing himself as unskilled, he was quite adept. With swift and steady strokes, in just a few lines, what he wanted to draw leaped onto the paper.

"Done."

After Ren finished the drawing, he handed the paper to Yuta.

"Wow, so cute!" The little girl exclaimed with wide eyes upon seeing the drawing.

Curious, Jada also leaned in to take a close look, finding it hard to peel her eyes away.

It wasn't unattractive; it was actually quite charming.

Yellow skin, two long, pointed ears, two red cheek spots, a tail resembling lightning against its yellow skin, it all looked remarkably coordinated.

Moreover, for some reason, looking at this drawing, Jada always felt that the adorable creature in it seemed lively, as if it could move.

This made her glance at Ren unexpectedly. Who would've thought that her daughter's cheap old man had this talent?

Indeed, this character was one of the top IPs in the world in Ren's previous life, the iconic character of Pokémon—Pikachu!

Women, whether big or small, adore cuteness.

"Dad! Dad! What's this little guy called?" The little girl tugged at Ren's sleeve.

"It's called Pikachu," Ren gently replied, "It's a creature from a series called Pokémon, and there are many other cute little creatures too. Do you want to draw together?"

"Yes, yes!" Without hesitation, the little girl jumped off the sofa, much to Ren's surprise. She ran to her school bag, quickly pulled out a bunch of things, then sat beside Ren. "Let's draw together!"

"Okay." Ren nodded in satisfaction.

Finally, they shifted the little one's attention from the freeloading topic to here.

The two, one big and one small, kept writing and drawing on the sofa. Ren's drawings were lovely, while Yuta's were a bit crooked. Despite that, the little girl remained happily engaged, her feet dangling in the air, swinging back and forth, reflecting her owner's extremely joyful mood.

On the sidelines, Jada watched the father and daughter, a hint of a smile shining in her eyes.

"This is good, Yueyue won't be bored at home."
