Five weeks had passed without any incidents, and the weather outside was colder than ever, so the transmigrator was grateful for the basement having a heater.
Jay was laying on his belly on the floor of the bunker, and his violet eyes were focused on the artwork in front of him.
His hand was gripping on tight to a crayon the way a person would write, but his hands were too small to hold it, yet it didn't stop him.
The yellow crayon filled out the blanks on the giraffe's body. It's the last of three things on his huge piece of paper. The first one to get done is a normal brown horse, which kind of looked like a dog now that Jay actually stared at it, and the other animal on the list is a white unicorn, which he saved himself the trouble of coloring since it's white.
He even added a background of green grass and a few last minute trees, such an artist he is.
His work of art looks like shit, honestly, but there's not a lot he can do when he's a baby.
System! What's his side quests again?
[ USER JAY'S CURRENT ACTIVE SIDE QUESTS:
• Draw a giraffe and a unicorn for Jay Pleng, +5 EXP
• Find the last wonder soldier Eugene Romanov, +20 EXP ]
[ USER LEVEL 1, EXP: 81/100, more stats ]
Right, he accidentally accepted the impossible quest of finding the last wonder soldier, but the System won't let him remove it.
The shitty System also said that he's only allowed to have two side quests at the same time until he's level five, then he can have more slots for side quests.
With his work of art done, he began gathering his crayons and put it in a box. JJ told him that he should, and besides, Jay didn't want to trip or slip when he accidentally stepped on his own art supplies.
"Dada! Mom!" He yelled as he made his way into the bedroom.
The door was wide open for him, and he grinned as he ran towards the teenagers. His male caregiver was holding up the railings of the crib while his companion was replacing the sheets on the mattress.
They sent him out a while ago so that they could clean the sheets. For some reason, the teen parents thought that Jay would be upset if he sees them taking his stuffed animals away for a wash.
Both of them were dressed in matching faded beige T-shirts and black shorts, and the transmigrator was pretty sure that they had it as a uniform or something when they were under Lady Red's supervision.
"What you got there, little guy?" The Red King asked as he slowly put down the railing.
"Look! Look!" The baby held up his drawing, and he could see his parents visibly softened.
He didn't know which Jay Pleng the system refered to in the side quest, so he's showing both of them.
"That's so cool, Kaon." JJ crouched down so that she could be face to face with the toddler. "What's that?"
"Horse! Uni horse, toll horse!" The transmigrator lifted his drawing higher, hoping to see a system notification popping up soon.
A chuckle came from his male caregiver, and the teenage boy kneel down on the floor.
"That's a unicorn, little guy." His grin widened as he pointed at Jay's artwork. "And that's a giraffe. G for giraffe and U for unicorn."
"Yeah!" The transmigrator loved it when his parents gave him attention. Maybe it's just natural for a child to feel this way... "Yeerough. Oonacorn."
"You're so adorable." JJ pitched his cheeks before giving his head a pat.
After another minute of congratulations from the teenages, Jay ran back out of the bedroom.
'System! Where's my fucking EXP?' The transmigrator yelled in his head while he's putting his work of art on one of the shelves.
[ USER LEVEL 1, EXP: 81/100, more stats ]
'Didn't I complete the side quest? The one about drawing a giraffe and a unicorn?' Jay grumpily sat down on the floor as he's having a conversation inside of his head with an entire that only he could see. 'So where's my EXP points?'
[ USER JAY ONLY NEED TO DRAW A GIRAFFE AND A UNICORN. ]
Before the transmigrator could complain even more, another interface screen popped up.
[ EACH SIDE QUESTS COMPLETED WILL TRIGGER AN EVENT THAT IS INSIGNIFICANT TO THE MAIN PLOT, BUT IT WILL HELP IN KAON'S CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT. ]
Oh, great.
So, he only needed to draw a giraffe and a unicorn? Fuck the System!
At this point, it would be easier to get out of the house and complete his other side quest.
Feeling like he's the pettiest guy in existence, Jay tapped on the blue interface screen manually, not bothering to talk to the System. With both of his parents' back turned, the transmigrator activated the memory function.
He learned that the memory function can and will teleport him to wherever he was when it ended or if he decided to end it earlier by yelling at the System.
Once he activated the memory function, a ripple of white energy washed over his surroundings while his body became invisible.
Then, Jay ran upstairs as quick as he could. If he remembered correctly, the basement trap door was already opened outside of the memory function, so it wouldn't be weird for a baby to crawl out there, right?
He ran passed the kitchen and the living room, and soon he was out the door.
If the System wanted him to find the last wonder soldier, then fine! Jay honestly doesn't know what he's doing, but out of pettiness, he would rather go out and complete his other side quest than redo the one that he got wrong.
As he watched the couple who originally built this cabin argue with each other from outside the window, the transmigrator's mind wandered away.
Maybe he's being stupid after all. His teen parents are gonna have a heart attack when they realize that their baby isn't in the bunker.
With a sigh, Jay waved his invisible hand in the air to get the system interface screen. Then, he left the memory function. His plan was to try to open the front door with his little toddler hands to get back inside the house.
Another ripple affect took hold of the environment, and before he knew it, Jay popped back out in front of the cabin.
The chilly autumn air hit his face, so he's glad that he's wearing a long sleeve shirt. It's also twelve in the afternoon, so it's not that cold yet, so the transmigrator braced himself as he stood up from the ground.
Out of curiosity, he reached for the door knob, and of course, it's locked. Fucking great. How can he explain to his parents now? Well, he doesn't have to explain because he's a baby. The best case scenario is his parents gaslighting themselves into saying that little Kaon is just gifted.
Hey, at least the window is open! He can point to the half open window when his teen caretakers finally pick him up.
With that in mind, Jay patted himself on the back. Now he has time to explore his yard a bit—
His violet eyes landed on a man in a black T-shirt and blue jeans standing in the treeline. The blond didn't even try to fit in with his environment; he's Just standing there, and he looked rather shocked when their eyes met.
[ CONGRATULATIONS! ]
Shit, System! What now?
[ SIDE QUEST COMPLETED: FIND THE LAST WONDER SOLDIER EUGENE ROMANOV ]
[ +20 USER EXP ]
[ LEVEL UP! ]
[ USER LEVEL 2, EXP: 101/100, more stats ]
Jay was swiping the interface screens away from his face, and he yelped when he realized that the blond man in the woods was running towards him.
[ SUPER POWER UNLOCKED! ]
Good, can he use it?
[ YES, USER JAY. ]
[ SUPERPOWER: WATER MANIPULATION LEVEL 1
OVERVIEW: In this level, User Jay can move a maximum of 2 liters of water, with range of 3 meters or 10 feet, only within eye view. ]
He quickly skimmed over his power overview as he began running around the cabin, internally pray that the backdoor is open.
Behind him, the last wonder soldier easily caught up to him, and the blond reached out to grab the running toddler.
