Chapter 1 - Origin

"He doesn't make sounds anymore, seems the nails aren't enough" A black-haired teen joked with a sadistic expression etched on his face.

The other teens in the dimly lit, abandoned warehouse snickered and nodded in agreement, their eyes fixed on the figure bound to the rusty chair, its mouth gagged with a dirty cloth, and fingers nailed to the armrests with rusty spikes, as the black-haired teen, named Raven, continued, "Time to upgrade the instruments, don't you think, guys?"

As he spoke, he gestured to the figure in the chair, whose eyes widened in terror, pleading for mercy, but Raven's gaze only grew colder, his smile twisting into a grotesque grin, "I mean, we've been at this for hours, and he's still not cracked. I think it's time to bring out the big guns...or rather, the big drill."

The other teens snickered and high-fived each other, their faces lit up by the flickering fluorescent lights overhead, as the bound figure's eyes darted frantically around the room.

'I need to get out of here' He thought inwardly but he knew it was nothing but a useless dream at the moment.

He had been kidnapped and brought here by some bullies for about a few days now and he was on the verge of going insane.

'I think I should die, it's not like I have anywhere to go' He thought inwardly as he rested back and looked at Raven with dead eyes.

Raven's sadistic grin widened as he noticed the despair in his captive's eyes, and he leaned in closer, his voice taking on a menacing tone: "Oh, you want to die? Well, we can arrange that. But first, let's have some fun.

"You see, my friends and I have been experimenting with... enhancing human endurance. And you, my friend, are our latest test subject." The other teens snickered and nodded in excitement, their eyes gleaming with a twisted enthusiasm, as Raven pulled out a rusty scalpel and began to clean it with a dirty cloth, his gaze never leaving the captive's face.

"If... I get... Out of here... I promise to make your life a living hell!" Seth the tied-up figure promised, his voice weak but one could tell he was dead serious.

He was no longer afraid of them, he was instead waiting to be killed.

"You useless fuck" Raven cursed as he suddenly raised the weapon and stabbed the chest of Seth.

Seth's eyes widened with a hint of confusion and pain but he didn't struggle rather he waited slowly until he lost his consciousness.

Ah... Finally, I shall leave this wretched world' He thought to himself as he closed his eyes accepting his fate.

After some time he opened his eyes again only to find out he was in some sort of dark space filled with nothingness.

The place was devoid of life but Seth felt comfortable there at least no one was there to bully him or insult him.

"Human" Suddenly a deep and commanding voice echoed in the dark space making Seth stunned for a moment.

"Who... are you?" Seth managed to stammer, his voice barely audible in the vast emptiness. The voice responded, its tone unchanging, "I am the Keeper of this realm. And you, Seth, are a curiosity. Your soul has been torn from your body, yet you linger. Your hatred and anger have forged a bond, anchoring you to this existence." The voice paused, and the darkness seemed to shift as if the Keeper was moving closer. "You have two choices: remain here, in this nothingness, free from pain and suffering, or return to the world of the living, with a chance to exact revenge on those who wronged you." The voice presented the options with no hint of emotion, leaving Seth to ponder the weight of his decision.

"I choose the second option" Seth declared his tone laced with seriousness and determination, he was going to get his revenge on his race for all they had done to him.

"Even if it means losing your humanity?" The voice asked still emotionless patiently waiting for Seth to provide an answer.

Seth's determination faltered for a moment, as he hesitated, considering the implications. But his desire for revenge and justice for the suffering he had endured soon overrode any doubts.

"Yes, even if it means losing my humanity," he affirmed, his voice firm and resolute. "I'll make sure they pay for what they've done. I'll make them suffer like I have." The darkness seemed to nod in approval, and the voice declared, "Then let us begin. Your transformation will be... painful. But when it's done, you will be a being of darkness, driven by your desire for revenge. And your enemies will tremble before you." As the voice finished speaking, the darkness began to swirl and churn, and Seth felt himself being pulled apart and reassembled, his screams echoing through the void.

After some time the screaming in the void stopped, "It is done go back and fulfill your desires!" The voice instructed as it began slowly fading away.

"Huh?" Seth opened his eyes to find himself left in the place where he had been kept hostage.

"So I revived back in my body?" He questioned with a mumble.

As Seth looked around, he realized that everything was exactly as it had been before.

The warehouse, the chair, the rusty scalpel still lodged in his chest. But something was different.

He felt... altered. His body felt stronger, his senses more acute. And his mind was filled with a dark, burning energy, driving him to exact revenge on those who had tormented him.

He slowly got up, the scalpel still in his chest, but he felt no pain.

With a twisted grin, he began to walk towards the door, ready to unleash his wrath upon the world. And as he moved, the shadows around him seemed to move with him, as if darkness itself was his companion, fueling his vengeance.
