Dan, still groggy from sleep, answered the gentle knocking at the door. Opening it, he found the inn lady waiting outside. Without a word, she motioned for him to follow her, and Dan complied, trailing behind her as she led him downstairs.
As they descended, Dan noticed the familiar guard from the previous day waiting below. With a wave of his hand, the guard beckoned for Dan to follow once again.
Together, Dan and the guard walked towards the town hall. Upon reaching the door, the guard handed a paper to the one stationed there before they entered. Inside, another guard gestured for Dan to proceed into a nearby room
Dan entered the room, greeted by the sight of a simple office setup. A desk occupied the center of the room, with a single chair behind it. Opting for a seat across from the desk, Dan settled into the chair. Dan that waited the arrival of whoever it was.
Moments passed in the quiet room, and a sense of unease began to settle over Dan. Then, the door creaked open, and a middle-aged man with a scar on his left side entered. Clad in simple clothes, he took a seat in the desk chair, fixing his gaze on Dan.
The man began to speak, but Dan simply shook his head, indicating his inability to understand. Undeterred, the man pulled out a map, gesturing to various locations. Dan watched as the man pointed to the town they were in and then to another location. Though he couldn't grasp the man's words, Dan gathered that he was indicating something about the nearby town.
Finally, the man handed Dan a pouch containing ten copper coins and pointed to a spot on the map. Dan realized that the man was trying to convey that while this town couldn't help him understand the language, it might still be of assistance in some way.
Dan bowed in gratitude, but the man waved his hand dismissively. As Dan rose from his bow, he was escorted by the guard back to the inn
