Chereads / A Werewolf Demise / Chapter 23 - Chapter 22

Chapter 23 - Chapter 22

Priscilla got off the taxi and looked on to the Ravenhood police department, the place that Anna worked day in and out. She wanted to see Anna and at least have a conversation or two with her.

She pushed the transparent door open, and almost everybody stopped to look at her. She was like a deer caught in the head lights, she shot them a small smile and then walked up to the front desk.

"Good day, Ms..." Her eyes went to the name tag on the woman's shirt, "Sabrina. I am looking for, Maria Santos."

Sabrina looked at the man that was next to her, she then looked at her slowly shaking her head. "I'm sorry, but Ms. Maria isn't planning on seeing anyone right now."

"This is a police station isn't it. And I have something to report to her."

"Well if you have something to report, you can write down your report on the report sheet." She pointed to a place on the counter that had a couple of papers arranged together.

"I need to see her to make this report." Priscilla said with a bit of grit to her tone.

"And I can't allow that." Sabrina said, with a smile on her face.

"Look here, I am a journalist and I need to speak to her about something that I discovered."

"You are a journalist huh? Well then show me your license." The man next to her finally spoke up.

Priscilla let out a huff of breath, then began rummaging through her bag for her ID, after a minute of searching and not seeing it. She realized that she most definitely forgot it at home on her kitchen counter as she was hurrying to come outside.

"I..."

"What's going on here?" A voice said and all eyes turn to see who spoke, it was Maria. Priscilla eyes lit up on seeing her.

"Maria Santos, I was just telling them that I wanted to see you." Priscilla said with a smile on her face.

"And you are?" Maria asked narrowing her eyes at her.

"Oh Priscilla Hooven, freelance journalist."

"Never heard of you." Maria said with a shrug to her shoulders.

Priscilla let out a cough, pretending not be absolutely disappointed by what she said. Technically she was still growing her reader base so it was normal.

"I didn't come here to discuss whether you know me or not, I came here to discuss about something important."

Maria eyes her wearily, then after a moment, turn around and motion with her hands for her to follow her.

They got to her office and Maria took a seat at the couch that was pushed up against the wall, she called for Priscilla to seat right next to her.

"So, what exactly do you want to discuss that is of importance?"

"I believe that there is something going on in Ravenhood." Priscilla said, then looked at Maria, Maria blinked her eyes multiple times.

"Like what?" She asked.

"There is some sort of agenda going on, a secret that probably the Mayor doesn't want us to find out about. Do you believe in the existence of werewolves?"

Maria felt a sudden feeling of dread, she began to wonder why everybody around her was suddenly interest in the existence of werewolves.

"No, I don't believe in such fable tales." She with the best straight face she could muster.

"Oh, but your best friend died of a werewolf attack days ago didn't she?"

Maria let out a cough to clear out her throat, "I don't think she did, there is a claim that she died by a wild animal attack."

"That's what they want you to believe, Anna didn't get killed by a wild animal, she got killed by a werewolf."

"How did you even know about me?" Maria asked.

"Anna spoke so fondly about you, she even showed me countless pictures of the both of you guys together." Priscilla said, the tone in her voice slightly somber. "And that's why I feel like it's a werewolf attack."

"What makes you think that it's a werewolf attack?"

"I have seen the pictures, and I compared it to the reports of how werewolves attack human beings... I also have been attacked by those creatures before as well."

Priscilla unbuttoned her shirt, just enough for Maria to see a scar that looked like it goes down a lot deeper than usual. Maria looked at the scar on her chest then back to Priscilla.

"How did you survive?" She asked.

"I don't know, honestly. I guess I was just lucky." She buttoned her shirt back and rubbed her sweaty palms on her thigh.

"Well, of all the things I expected today, I never expected to see a werewolf survivor." Maria said, her voice dry from any emotion.

Priscilla let out a small laugh, "So, I ask again. Do you believe in the existence of werewolves?"

"Why don't we discuss this somewhere more private?" Maria suggested.

Priscilla nodded her head in agreement.

"Great, meet me at the coffee shop down the street, by 8pm tonight."

"Ok, will do. Also," she said rummaging through her bag and brought out a pen and pepper and wrote something on it and handed it to her. "That's my phone number, in case you want to give me a call."

Maria took it from her hand and told her that she would. Yet both stood up and Maria walked her towards the door, telling her goodbye. She then stood by her door side staring at the paper, she was beginning to wonder just how many people knew the existence of this creatures and whether they are hiding within plain sight.

"Just look at her," chief Sanders muttered drinking her mug of tea, while staring at the big flat screen that was showing Maria standing by the door inside her office. "Not wanting anybody to know about the little secret she knows about."

"The funniest thing about everything is the fact that she has literally hang out with those icky creatures." An old man smoking a pipe said, with a tone of disgust.

"I don't care who she hangs out with, I just want every single supernatural being gone, we don't need them." Another woman said.

"Calm down everyone, the only thing that is keeping those beings alive is Alpha Lobo, if by any chance he dies. We shall arise from the shadows and get rid of those creatures once and for all."

"But, what about Mayor Watterson, you know that he always try his best to keep those things under wraps."

"And that's when our supreme leader comes in to take over his position." Sander says with an exciting glint in her eyes.

Then she smiled, taking one last sip of her tea. Everything is slowly going as planned.
