"That's all. I hope you understand, Christiana," I said, trying to sound as sincere as possible.
I had explained everything to her, carefully omitting the most sensitive parts—Emmeline's involvement and the existence of the system. Even with my omissions, she still looked troubled, her brows furrowing in contemplation.
After a moment of silence, she finally let out a sigh and spoke up.
"From your statements, it's still unclear to me how much you are hiding. But, for the time being, I have faith in you."
A wave of relief washed over me. It seemed that her experiences with me during the recent attacks and prior events had built some level of trust.
"Well, I have to say this," she continued, her tone shifting slightly.
"Although you said this phoenix feather would be helpful, it didn't work at the vital time at all. I should have found an escape route first."
