"Knowledge is power! Perhaps due to witnessing death's cruelty from a young age, Orochimaru thirsted for knowledge more than most. From 'Adam,' he glimpsed a deeper understanding that transcended the ninja world's common sense for the first time.
That's why he chose to submit and follow 'Adam's' commands.
But this didn't mean he would be a compliant dog.
In the depths of Orochimaru's cold eyes, a hint of sarcasm flickered as he remarked playfully, 'Controlling me will take more than mere words.'
Long ago, he had quietly planned a 'test.'
Naturally, the tempting target was the self-proclaimed angelic figure, 'Adam.' The process was slow, meticulous, and covert, ensuring no detection.
Confident yet not reckless, Orochimaru had preemptively used a rudimentary ninjutsu to partition a segment of his soul.
This divided soul was further fragmented and hidden within his subordinates' bodies. Though cumbersome, this ensured his soul's preservation in case of unforeseen events.
While resurrection would be prolonged, it provided a contingency.
Given that he intended to test a being suspected of being a 'God,' Orochimaru deemed this sacrifice fair.
'Now, preparations are complete.'
With a sneer, Orochimaru prepared to commence the challenge, declaring, 'Let's see what you're capable of, Adam!'"
As his words echoed through the dim room, a crackling sound of electricity suddenly filled the air.
Simultaneously, the room's lighting seemed affected, flickering rapidly between brightness and darkness, increasing in speed.
Swish!
In an instant, Orochimaru's eyes narrowed, a chill running down his spine.
Such an abnormal phenomenon couldn't be ignored, especially right after he quietly uttered the name "Adam" to himself.
No. That's impossible?
Orochimaru broke out in a cold sweat, enveloped in an inexplicable chill, as if plunged into an icy cellar.
He hadn't intended to put his plan into action just yet!
Zila!
Zila!
The electrical buzzing intensified, the room noticeably colder.
An invisible weight of oppression surged like a tide, shadows seeming to come to life, slowly swallowing the remaining light.
Little by little, until a hum echoed, and suddenly, the entire room plunged into darkness.
"Who?!"
Nervously jumping from his chair, Orochimaru swiftly formed hand seals, eyes wide in heightened alert. "Show yourself!"
Yet, in the empty laboratory, there was no response.
The eerie silence unsettled Orochimaru. He couldn't shake the feeling of being watched in the darkness.
His pale golden snake-like eyes darted around, finding nothing.
But the sensation of scrutiny grew stronger, like a sharp blade tracing back and forth across his neck.
"Come out!"
Orochimaru immediately used ninjutsu, causing a swarm of snakes to spread out within his vicinity.
Each snake served as his eyes.
Despite searching the entire laboratory, the snakes couldn't pinpoint the source of that 'gaze'.
The fear of the unknown enveloped Orochimaru deeply, unsettling him more with each passing moment.
Suddenly!
From the corner of his eye, he glimpsed a figure standing in the shadows.
"There!" Orochimaru twisted like a python and lunged forward: "Shadow Snake Hand!"
But the snake that shot out from his sleeve hit the empty wall. No one was there at all!
"What in the world is happening?!"
Orochimaru felt even more terrified. Something unseen, unfound, and unknown was watching him?
The mere possibility shattered his once confident plan instantly.
"Adam?"
Orochimaru's heart trembled, bitterness filling his mouth as he asked with a trembling voice: "Are you Adam?"
Silence.
The silence of death, eerie and palpable, where even a pin drop could be heard.
He didn't comprehend what was unfolding, but that unsettling gaze felt as real as if it could pierce his heart.
In the next moment, Orochimaru reacted. If he couldn't find it, he would flee!
He dashed towards the door.
However, just as he was about to open it, the floor tiles beneath him cracked under the force.
Orochimaru slipped and collided with the wall beside the door in a bizarre and comical posture.
Bang!
Two teeth were knocked out.
The impact left Orochimaru dizzy, blood streaming from his nose and mouth.
Wiping the blood away, cursing his luck, he quickly rose to open the door.
However, at that moment, the cluster of venomous snakes unleashed by the ninjutsu earlier, now left uncontrolled, darted about in chaos.
In a stroke of eerie coincidence, they collided with an experimental stand nearby, knocking over bottles and jars stacked upon it.
Those containers held a plethora of corrosive fluids.
*Sizzle!!!*
Orochimaru was drenched in highly corrosive liquid that swiftly stripped away his flesh.
"Ahhhh——!"
With his skin melting away, Orochimaru resembled a man being gruesomely flayed alive. He screamed in agony, scrambling away from the chemical spill.
Just as he staggered backwards, Orochimaru inadvertently stepped on a venomous snake. Its slippery touch caused him to lose his footing.
*Bang!*
His head slammed forcefully against the ground, leaving Orochimaru momentarily dazed.
Yet, fate seemed intent on playing more cruel tricks on him.
Grimacing in pain and clutching his head, Orochimaru caught a fleeting glimpse of a shadowy figure resembling a ghost lurking in the shadows.
*Snap!*
Before he could react, a cracking noise echoed above him.
Turning to look, Orochimaru saw a light bulb suspended from the ceiling dislodged by the splashing chemicals, hurtling downwards.
*Shua shua shua!!!*
The shattered glass shards from the light bulb fell from a height of over two meters, emitting a sharp, piercing sound as they tore through the air.
Orochimaru's eyes widened in fear. Instinctively, he swiftly formed seals with both hands: "Orochimaru Style Substitution Technique!"
In an instant, a body emerged in his place just as the glass shards followed suit, descending with uncanny speed and force, piercing through the flesh!
*Puff, puff, puff,*
Dozens of glass shards pierced directly through vital parts of his original body.
It was so precise, as if it had been targeted in advance.
If he had been a step slower, even just half a second slower, he might have been killed by the glass!
Looking at this scene, the deep fear in Orochimaru's heart suddenly spread and intensified.
He was a Kage-level ninja, yet he had nearly been killed by glass. If word got out, it would likely be a source of ridicule.
But Orochimaru couldn't find it amusing right now.
"What exactly is happening here?"
Even a fool would recognize that this was definitely not a coincidence!
Occurrences that repeat over and over cannot be mere chance—they must be the result of deliberate manipulation by someone!
"I apologize! I was mistaken!"
Orochimaru knelt down decisively, bowing his head heavily to the ground, shocked and fearful: "Please forgive me this time!"
Admitting defeat is not a disgrace.
The plan hadn't even been executed yet, and he had nearly met his end.
If this continued, he couldn't fathom what might finish him off!
"One final warning."
A faint voice echoed in Orochimaru's mind.
Then, the sensation of being watched from behind vanished instantly, as though it had never been there.
"Yes."
Orochimaru kept his head low, wearing a bitter expression, and sighed deeply within his heart.
