Chapter 173 - Chapter 173 : Gyuki vs Kurama!!

Tailed Beast

In the ninja world's ancient legends, Ushi-oni represents disaster and misfortune. These creatures are immense sources of chakra.

When a tailed beast appears in stories, its destructive power is described as if the sky is collapsing and the earth is splitting apart, causing endless chaos and death.

Fortunately, some people got to see if these legends were true. Unfortunately, they paid with their lives.

A storm of meteor-like ninjutsu attacks slammed into the tough skin of the Eight-Tails, turning into tiny flames and vanishing into the night.

Despite the attacks, the Eight-Tails was completely unharmed.

Even though the Konoha ninjas had a numerical advantage and attacked in groups, they were nothing more than ants compared to the legendary tailed beast.

While a swarm of ants might bring down an elephant, the number of ninjas here was not enough.

The attacks seemed like mere tickling to the Eight-Tails. It raised a hand and casually flicked, looking down at the ninjas with disdain.

The Eight-Tails' tail, like an octopus tentacle, slammed down, scattering like a blooming flower.

Boom! Boom! Boom!

The earth shook violently.

Houses collapsed over large areas, and the ground was torn apart, creating wide fissures that spread in all directions.

The force of the impact created a powerful shockwave, blowing away people and objects nearby. Debris was caught in the blast and shot out at high speed. In moments, many ninjas fell, pierced by debris and covered in blood mist.

The dust from the explosion billowed like a sea of clouds, making the already massive Eight-Tails appear even more enormous, like a towering mountain between heaven and earth.

Faced with the enormous monster before them, the ninjas instinctively held their breath, sweat dripping from their foreheads. The atmosphere was heavy, like an invisible wall pressing down from the sky, making the air on the ground almost unbearable for ordinary people.

Every breath felt like a struggle.

The intense pressure forced them to expand their lungs to the limit, their hearts pumping like machines, and their blood vessels bulging just to get a breath of air.

The chakra pressure was palpable, like a hammer striking everyone's hearts, creating a relentless tide of force. Just being near it made the ninjas feel as if their skin was being scorched.

Is this the tailed beast?!

It was different from the descriptions in textbooks or from older ninjas.

The true terror of the tailed beasts is only felt when facing them. It's a deep, soul-shaking fear, a primal instinct that death could come at any moment!

No. It's impossible to win.

The destruction caused by a single step of the beast is far beyond what hundreds of ninjas could handle.

Despair quickly took over the surviving ninjas' minds. They were ordinary ninjas with no chance against such a powerful enemy!

"Ahhh I don't want to die!"

"That's right! It's a Tailed Beast! Why do they want us to sacrifice our lives?!"

"Exactly, why not send a stronger ninja instead!"

"Where's the Hokage? Where's the Acting Hokage? Why hasn't he appeared at a time like this?"

With each question, everyone's resolve crumbled.

Eventually, one ninja couldn't handle the pressure any longer. He broke down and fled.

Soon, others followed, and the morale of the group collapsed. Everyone was running away, as if driven by fear.

"Don't run! Stop right there!"

Seeing this, Danzo's eyes turned red with anger.

But, he was in the Hokage Building, and his voice couldn't reach the front line, so he could only watch.

"Damn it, a bunch of cowards! Cowards!" Danzo fumed, slamming his hand on the table. His forehead veins throbbed as he gritted his teeth, saying, "How foolish! This is Konoha Village. Even if you run, where will you go? I shouldn't have relied on these weaklings!"

"But, Lord Danzo, isn't the current situation all because of you?"

Elephant looked at the frantic Danzo with a deep sense of sadness. "The village has no elites left. The remaining ninjas are just ordinary. Asking them to hold off a tailed beast is impossible. Don't you understand human nature at all?"

"Just be quiet!" Danzo's face twisted with anger, his black hair flying wildly in the wind.

To Elephant, Danzo appeared monstrous. One side of his face was that of a beautiful woman, while the other side resembled a corrupt old man. His long hair seemed alive, morphing into black tentacles with dark, blinking eyes.

But the most horrifying part was yet to come. Danzo's perfect body seemed to be disintegrating, with flesh and blood collapsing and falling apart.

"Ah—!" Elephant stumbled back in terror, falling to the ground as he stared at Danzo in horror.

"Get out!" Danzo's forehead was covered in veins, his voice strained as he ground out, "Let Kushina transform into a tailed beast!"

"Yes, yes, Lord Danzo." Elephant quickly got up and scrambled out of the Hokage Building on all fours.

Strangely, the Eight-Tails didn't seem intent on causing destruction after it landed. Aside from a minor retaliation against the ninjas who had attacked it at first, it remained in a passive state.

Eventually, even its eyelids were closed, as if it were pretending to be asleep.

No one knew its intentions, and no one dared to provoke it, fearing that waking the monster could bring a disaster that might tear the earth and sky apart.

During this period, some ninjas from the Sealing Squad attempted to approach it but were pushed back by its powerful airflow. The closed eyelids hinted at the beast's awareness, making everyone too scared to come closer. They could only observe from a distance.

"Isn't this guy too arrogant?" The Anbu were frustrated, but they had no means to confront the tailed beast. They pinned their hopes on the Jinchūriki: "Hey, are you ready? That beast could wake up any moment!"

Uzumaki Kushina, sitting calmly on the ground, looked at the sleeping beast and replied, "Don't worry. As long as you don't provoke it, it won't attack."

"How do you know?" Anbu asked in surprise.

"It told me."

Kushina looked troubled, touched her belly, and whispered, "The Eight-Tails is waiting for it."

"In that case, what are you waiting for?" Anbu's tone was stern, and his eyes held a hint of threat. "Uzumaki Kushina, don't forget your mission. The Jinchūriki exists for this moment. Don't try any tricks!"

"Oh."

Kushina smiled, almost mockingly, and slowly raised her head. "Don't worry, I won't run away. Just as you wish. Come out, Nine Tails!"

Boom!!!

In the southwest corner of Konoha, a massive tremor shook the area.

The Eight-Tails, who had been dozing, finally opened its eyes with a look of joy. "I've been waiting for you for a long time. Let's have a fight to our heart's content – Nine-Tails!"

From the enormous mushroom cloud that reached dozens of meters high in the southwest corner, an ominous figure emerged.

Its orange-red hair blazed like flames, and its nine tails lashed wildly in the air. The gigantic fox-like beast howled at the sky. With a single swipe of its sharp claws, it created a hurricane so powerful that it shattered nearby buildings and cracked the ground. The air waves spread out in all directions.

In the next moment,

The Eight-Tail charged forward at full speed, creating a massive storm with each step, causing the ground to shake violently.

The Nine-Tailed Fox used all four of its limbs, generating fierce winds as it moved, demolishing everything in its path.

Gyūki and Kurama, the two strongest tailed beasts,

Collided with overwhelming power and force, like Mars crashing into Earth.
