Paula smiled awkwardly, nodding her head as she took a seat at the available spot. It was strange that she kept running into Len, and honestly, it was starting to get on her nerves.
"I didn't expect to see you here, Paula," Len said, breaking the silence with his deep voice. Martha glanced at Paula, her surprise evident.
"You know each other?" Martha asked, her tone tinged with curiosity.
Before Paula could respond, Len answered, "Yes, we know each other."
Paula shot him a glare, her eyes practically daring him to drop the pretense, but Len ignored her, focusing instead on Martha as they began to converse.
"Wow. What a coincidence," Martha said, and Len nodded in agreement.
It was indeed a coincidence to run into him less than 24 hours after their last encounter. Seeing Len here dampened Paula's excitement, and she ate her food slowly, answering only a few of Martha's questions.
