Raymond's phone rang, cutting through the conversation between him and Paula. "I'm sorry, Paula, I need to take this," he said, already reaching for his phone. He stood up, his face shifting into a more serious expression as he answered the call. "Hello? Yes, I'll be right there."
As he excused himself, Paula nodded, her smile fading slightly as she watched him leave. "I'll wait here," she uttered softly.
Raymond left the room, his footsteps reverberating in the silence that followed. The moment he was out of sight, Paula's phone buzzed in her hand.
She glanced at the screen and saw Ronald's name. Her face brightened a little as she answered the call. "Hey, Ronald! It's great to hear from you!"
"Hey, Paula," Ronald's voice came through warmly. "How's everything? Have you eaten yet?"
Paula's smile widened. "I haven't eaten yet, actually. I'm just here at City N General Hospital, waiting for someone. How about you?"
