Chapter 41 - Face slap

After his words of apology, Grandfather Bertram let out a deep breath, a small smile spreading across his lips.

It was the most genuine smile he had had in years.

Seeing the old man's sincerity, Paula couldn't hold a grudge. She never did before.

"After you left that night, Len went out to look for you. He realized he had acted out of hand, so he searched everywhere," Grandfather Bertram said, his voice a little edgy.

Hearing this, Paula's heart tightened. Len looked for her that night?

"I'm not saying this to justify his actions, but after you left, he changed a little. Some things happened in the company, so he was stressed out. But he looked for you, every single day for a year," the old man continued, blinking slowly.

Before he could continue, the door of the room opened, and their order came in. The sweet aroma of food filled the air, tingling Paula's stomach.
