Chapter 8 - SEA-GREEN

Bang!

Eisley's eyes opened. She took a deep breath, glancing around. The windows of the car were tilted. She had passed out on their way home after Irwin had offered her some water to drink. She couldn't remember anything else.

Suddenly, she heard a loud cry, Eisley leaned closer to the windscreen, hoping to see what was going on outside. It was almost impossible, but she could see two figures standing outside, while the one who cried sat on a chair, the lights of the other cars made this blurry vision possible to see.

Eisley tried to open the car door, but it was locked. She immediately unlocked it and got down.

The sight of what was going on was unbelievable and unbearable. She covered her mouth, gasping, and her feet walked further until she screamed.

"No! Why!" She rushed towards the young boy being tortured, but the guards blocked her.

There was a dead man on the floor. A bullet seemed to have gone through his head.

Irwin looked back at her, Eisley's knees failed her, and she fell to the floor, breathing heavily. The side of his face was covered in blood, including his hands. The person sitting on a chair had almost passed out.

Irwin's sea-green eyes caught her. It glowed because of the lights shimmering through it. He pushed a cigarette into his hands and continued using a knife against the boy's skin.

"Take her home," Irwin said to Robert and continued.

"What are you doing?" Eisley yelled. "Oh my god, he is only a child,"

"Miss Mercer, this way," Robert directed her, but she refused to get up from the floor. He forcefully took her hands, trying to pull her up, but he couldn't.

"Let me go! Stop this instant!"

Irwin exhaled, tossing his cigarette to the floor, "Shit!" He took her hands and pulled her up, dragging her to the car. "When I say shut the fuck up, you listen. Irwin leaned closer, "Who the fuck do you think you are to interrupt? You might as well be Magnus's wife if you're too nosy."

Eisley's eyes darted around until she found Magnus in a corner looking so worried. The thought of going back to that lifestyle caused her to zip it. Her heart calmed down, she looked at the body on the floor, and the boy.

Irwin let go of her the moment her breath calmed. He took off his jacket and placed it over her. "Robert would take you home," He said and grabbed the gone from the man beside him. He clicked it.

Dumbfounded, she followed Robert, who opened the car door, Eisley got in, and she wasn't going to spend another year in that house with Magnus. That reminder was enough to keep her in her place. However, Irwin just became ten times more dangerous and scary to her.

As the car drove away, Eisely heard another shot. Her restless hands found themselves, and her eyes danced around until she found Robert staring at her through the rearview mirror. His eyes said so many things at the same time, but that wasn't her business.

Irwin was her lifesaver. She grabbed the bottle of water that Irwin had given her. Her hands shook as she held it and slipped from her hands.

You. You think Mr Kent is your saviour. Do you think that beast is capable of love? Or do you think you, a fish, can seduce a beast? "Do you think Mr Kent is capable of falling in love? You must be mistaken. He uses dumbs whenever he feels like you are not going to be the first or the last lady he would fuck and dispose of. Get a grip. He fucks not love, he doesn't cuddle or care, until he tosses you out, don't come crying.

"It's going to be different. I have no choice but to seduce him once I have enough money and am free from Magnus, I'd leave, I'd run away to some rural village. It's going to be safe there,"

Finally, the car arrived at Irwin's mansion. Before Robert could get the door, she pushed the door open and walked straight in before he could say anything either.

The next day, Eisley had taken a sleeping pill to aid her sleeping. By the time she was up, it was already past 1 pm.

Eisley brushed up and headed out of her room. She found Grace preparing the dining table and walked closer. Her feet stopped, and she looked at Irwin, who sat staring at her.

"Put on something nice. We have to leave soon," He said coldly

Eisley bit her lips, flickering her eyes. What was he up to now? After that steamy kiss last night, the rest of the night turned out a nightmare.

All she could remember was his dark, cold eyes glaring into hers. It was terrifying.

"Aren't you hungry?" Irwin looked at her. His eyes seemed warm, all this time he was going out at night. Had that been what he had been doing? "Can't you speak!" Irwin angrily slammed the table. The servants in the room shook, and they all began to leave, including Grace.

"No, I'm not hungry," Eisley folded her hands at her front. He nodded.

"Suit yourself, but be out before 2. We need to be somewhere," he walked past her.

A deep laugh covered the dining room as soon as Irwin left. It was Magnus walking towards her.

"Just come home, Eisley, I can protect you. You don't need to go through all that," Magnus said.

Eisley scoffed, "It's better than being beaten," She replied, about to leave, Magnus caught her wrist.

"Listen to me before it's too late,"

"Are you supposed to be here? This is Irwin's personal space," Eisley asked.

Magnus frowned, inhaling and fuming. "Shut it, you brat, what do you know,"

Eisley rolled her eyes, "Ahh, what do I know? Exactly, I know that our marriage was never real. You never registered it and wasted five years of my life,"

Magnus blinked, nervous. He swallowed. Nothing had prepared him for Eisley's boldness.

"I did it for your sake, Eisley," Pain invaded his cheek as Eisley slapped him. Before he could speak, another landed on his other cheek.

Magnus flared, "How dare you bitch!"

"Go ahead! Touch me! And get kicked out," she said with the most sickening smile he had ever seen.
