Shyva was awoken to see Vakiyv sleeping in the cave. She couldn't remember the last time Vakiyv slept peacefully, snoring gently and cocooned within his warmth. She observed just how human he was. Vulnerable and calm. Temptation called to Shyva as she crawled to where he rested and watched his face. She watched half his face, the right side he warned her about. Curiosity overwhelmed her to pull his mask and view the part of him he hid throughout his life. Shyva's eyes sparkled with mischief, and a small smile crept upon her lips. His mask had seen more brutal days with dents and
scratches. His dark lids were closed, and she noticed the curve of his white lashes. She would have loved to feel the soft wisps. She had seen him calm but positioned as a foetus; he seemed content. She lowered her gaze to his entwined-fisted hands with bulging biceps crossed against his broad chest.
