Chapter 22 - Training

Wallace grinned wickedly as he watched Marcus, he was completely off guard earlier as he, unaware of what happened, how this Mage died again.

So he wishes this fella to enter his private Dungeon once again, to find out.

"Sir, here's another Neutral Magic Crystals…" Marcus handed him another pouch again containing magic crystals.

After that, Marcus immediately went inside his dungeon again.

Wallace was looking forward to seeing Marcus's downfall once more, followed Marcus with his eyes, when Marcus entered, Wallace gaze rushingly shifted to Marcus's Livestream.

However, just as he was about to view Marcus's struggles, another video caught his attention—a particular one that intrigued him, urging him to explore further.

The screen displayed a mysterious action of the knight, Wallace's curiosity consumed him, compelling him to click, and with a single click, he witnessed something truly familiar.

Alistair found himself stuck in a dangerous situation, tightly wedged between two tall rocks that formed a narrow opening.

The relentless passage of time seemed to bear down on him, as he felt his desperation grow.

Outside the tight space between the rocks, a menacing group of huge Timber wolves waited for him, showing their teeth and predatory eyes.

"How can I escape from this dangerous trap?"

Alistair wondered, his mind were racing like a propeller to move away from this distraught situation.

His previous encounter with the wolf group had revealed their intelligence and cleverness, far exceeding that of the ordinary monsters he had encountered in the other Baron Dungeons in the past.

In the real world, the 'Radioactive Beasts' were tough opponents, but they were no match for the bloodthirsty and vengeful nature of these creatures in the game's dungeon.

With a chilling memory, Alistair recalled the moment when he had killed one of the wolves.

In an instant, the group had transformed into an unstoppable force, driven by an insatiable desire for revenge.

On the other hand, watching these events unfold from outside the gaming Dungeon in the hologram, Wallace nodded in understanding.

"I could relate, I could relate…"

This was the best action this Knight Alistair could take, though seeing a person from another world engage in this deadly game was a creepy sight.

Suddenly, to Alistair's surprise, the wolf pack abruptly left after one of them let out a haunting howl that echoed in the air,

"Awoooooo!!!"

Wallace furrowed his brow, realizing the ominous meaning behind this unexpected turn of events. He knew exactly what these clever creatures were planning, and a chill ran down his spine just by remembering that.

Meanwhile, deep inside the game's dungeon, Alistair felt a strange unease as the echoes of the howl reached his ears.

"Could it be that they are giving up their chase?" he wondered, hopeful that an opportunity to escape had arisen.

With cautious movement, he carefully stepped out of the narrow opening, only to be faced with the menacing sight of a wolf's fang ready to attack.

"Rawrr!"

The creature lunged, its jaws closing with terrifying force. But luck was on Alistair's side in that crucial moment. His reflexes were sharp, and he was incredibly agile.

Swiftly, he retreated back into the safety of the gap, narrowly avoiding the deadly grip of the wolf's mouth.

The sound of the creature's frustration was drowned out by the rush of relief that flooded through Alistair's body.

Grrrr… Grrr…

Contrary to his expectations, the wolf simply watched with an unsettling stillness as Alistair moved deeper into the gap between the rocks.

The eerie silence hung in the air, leaving Alistair to question the intentions of these intelligent creatures and the true nature of the dungeon world he and others found themself in.

As Alistair thought about his situation, trapped in the narrow space between the rocks while the menacing wolves lurked just outside, a disturbing feeling of guilt washed over him.

"Is this really how smart creatures fight?" he whispered to himself, struggling with a sudden realization.

There was a truth deep inside him that he hadn't acknowledged until now.

Beyond the borders of this virtual "gaming Dungeon," Alistair admitted that he wasn't used to fighting alone. Plus, he and his team had never faced powerful enemies, only slightly stronger.

They had never encountered creatures as fierce as the powerful "Magic Beasts" and "True Beasts."

That's why he felt completely helpless at this moment.

As Alistair listened to the growling wolf pack like they were communicating or something carefully, a shocking discovery suddenly hit him like lightning from the sky—these "Magical Beasts" and "True Beasts" had intelligence similar to the creatures they faced.

A spark of understanding lit up Alistair's eyes as he looked at the wolves with new insight of what he could understand.

"So," he murmured, his voice filled with realization, "these creatures are smart too. Could it be that we're being tested or trained to fight not only them but also..." His voice trailed off as his widened eyes revealed his understanding.

Wallace, their future new Baron, had given them this mission in the real world for a reason. .

Alistair could feel this dangerous "Gaming Dungeon' was the answer.

But as soon as this realization took hold of him, a cold shiver ran down Alistair's spine.

Instinctively, he lifted his gaze upward, sensing a creepy presence nearby. And right there, on top of him, between the two split rocks, he saw a wolf—carrying something big in its strong jaws.

The sight filled him with fear, as he could even hear the crawlers inside that thing that was on the wolf mouth.

Suddenly, the air around Alistair crackled with a strange energy, and a dark shower of shadows began to pour from the creature lurking within the wolf's mouth.

At first, one landed on his shoulder, and then his feet, and then beside him, until he was almost covered by it!

Alistair's eyes widened in realization—the shower was not rain at all, but a horde of huge ants.

They swarmed and scuttled, their jaws clicking together in a horrifying chorus.

Fury rushed through Alistair's veins, his anger growing at the wolves' clever scheme.

They had organized this attack with impressive intelligence, carrying an entire ant colony and placing it right where he sought safety.

The cracked stone, once his refuge, had become a trap that threatened to release an army of tormentors upon him.

Alistair's jaw tightened, determination showing on his face The thought of being at the mercy of a swarm of relentless insects was unbearable.

Soon he felt a single ant sink its teeth on his skin! "Darn it!" he shouted, his voice filled with defiance and frustration.

His hand gripped the handle of his knife tightly, finding some comfort in its weight. With resolute determination, he emerged from his hiding spot, prepared to confront the incoming onslaught of the wolf pack!

Every part of him screamed with a mixture of fear and determination as he scanned the approaching horde.

"Curse all of you!"

Alistair's voice echoed through the woods, carrying a blend of desperation and defiance.

The knife glistened under the sunlight as he brandished it—a solitary figure amidst a sea of swarming ants. Though doubt lingered in his heart, he steeled himself for the upcoming battle, knowing that his survival depended on his ability to cut through the relentless wolf pack!

As he raised his weapon, his grip unwavering, Alistair's anger burned brighter than ever, however, his vision suddenly blackened.
