Chapter 11 - Two letters

Butler Mendez felt embarrassed as he watched Young Sir Baron Wallace raise his wrist, a fascinating movement that caught his attention earlier.

However, because of his own weak and pathetic performance earlier, Mendez hesitated to ask or comment about it.

Just by thinking about it, he felt so ashamed.

Lost in his thoughts, fixated on the empty air that was coming from Wallace's advanced bracelet, Mendez was interrupted when the young sir asked a question without waiting for a response.

"Are you wondering why I'm so focused on my wrist?"

Wallace's tone was playful and captivating, leaving Mendez no choice but to admit his curiosity. Yet, Mendez didn't want to be rude, so he planned to deny and say, 'No, young Baron, sir.'

However, Wallace did not let him.

"I'm keeping an eye on the eight people who entered my dungeon," Wallace revealed, his words carrying a sense of emptiness.

Mendez's surprise and shock were evident, clearly visible on his face. He managed to stammer, his mouth open in disbelief, "You don't mean..."

Wallace simply nodded, an expression of understanding on his face. "I can spy on them," he confessed.

As those words hung in the air, Butler Mendez could only swallow hard, realizing the truth.

'No wonder Young Baron Sir wasn't bothered earlier,' he thought, his mind spinning with the implications.

As Wallace stared at his hologram, he couldn't help but notice the Mana Knights below, all engaged in what appeared to be a relaxed picnic.

Their carefree attitude puzzled him.

"Look at them," he muttered quietly, his voice tinged with frustration.

"They're all acting the same."

Earlier, he had tried to request a livestream from the Mana Knights, and to his surprise, they had all agreed. But something about the behavior of the two first Mana Knights he checked, their synchronized movements, made him uneasy.

All they did was gather their supplies again, mimicking Marcus and preparing for the next day.

So, after checking the two Mana Knights, he thought the others were also doing what the others were doing.

So, feeling exhausted from his unsuccessful attempts to witness action like he had with Marcus before, he gave up on checking others and resigned himself to waiting. He hoped that some revelation would come his way.

Yet, deep in his thoughts, a flicker of concern appeared on Wallace's face.

The idea of [ leveling up ] in this game world of [ Predator vs Alien ], something he had seen Marcus and the others had, even the orangutan, struck him as fundamentally different from the games of his past life.

There was nothing like that.

In his previous life, such a concept didn't exist.

Even a weak creature like the orangutan Marcus had encountered earlier should have been defeated easily by a few punches. But to his surprise, it had put up a fight he hadn't expected.

And so, he waited. He waited anxiously, hoping for something to happen, something that would confirm his suspicions and prove that this game wasn't as familiar as he had thought.

He is praying in his head that it isn't, to him it's better if it's still similar to the same game in his past life.

Suddenly, Butler Mendez gasped, a sound that would usually go unnoticed by Wallace, who was absorbed in his holographic display. But this time, curiosity got the better of him.

He didn't turn his attention to the butler but he opened his mouth and asked, "What's wrong?"

Butler Mendez's heart raced as he hesitated, his eyes darting nervously, when suddenly he noticed Wallace's intense piercing gaze.

It was sudden and brief, but the sheer intensity of Wallace's stare sent shivers down his spine and fueled his fear.

Summoning his courage despite his fear, Butler finally spoke with trepidation, "Sir, two letters have arrived. One is from the esteemed Vard Family, and the other is from the Toraz family, who is the sole and only Mana User of our territory..."

Wallace's brow furrowed with curiosity, his interest piqued by the mention of the influential family and the only Mana User in his territory. His tone softened, and unexpected politeness colored his words, putting Butler at ease.

"What does their letter say?" he inquired, eager to uncover the secrets hidden within those letters.

Taking a deep breath, Butler collected his thoughts before continuing, "Sir, unfortunately, I am not allowed to read it."

Hearing this, Wallace nodded, "Okay, next time, you read it for me… But who are they first?"

Hearing this, Butler would be flabbergasted once more.

Quickly, he composed himself, "the first letter is from the Vard Family. It seems they want to arrange a marriage between their second daughter and your late brother, the young Baron."

Pausing briefly, Butler cautiously added, "Regarding the Mana user associated with our late Baron, I'm afraid I don't have much information. However, it seems that the late Baron held him in high regard and believed he was the sole responsible Mana user for the protection of the entire Toraz family."

Wallace's eyes hardened, a flicker of anger dancing within them. "Inform the Vard Family about my brother's death," he commanded, his voice tinged with a mix of grief and determination. "As for the second letter," Wallace pondered, his mind racing to comprehend the strength of this mysterious Mana user.

"Wait… perhaps I should first familiarize myself with the Vard Family and the sole Mana user of our family…"

Initially, Wallace had considered discarding the letter altogether. But the connection between the Mana user and his deceased family intrigued him.

After all, being the sole wielder of Mana was a testament to the individual's power, and that alone held enough significance for Wallace to delve deeper into the matter.

"Tell me, Mendez, how strong are they? The Vard Family. And what about our Magic User? How powerful is he or she?"

Wallace, accompanied by a lady waiting for his return to unleash punishment on him, tried to avoid making more enemies with his bold behavior.

After all, this is the reason why he was here.

Suddenly, Butler Mendez interrupted, "Sir, the Vard Family has a strong group of Magic Users... at least six of them, with a few more hidden experts. However, although the Toraz family has only one Magic User, we have a peak or a highly skilled Assassin Circle Class Mana User member. That's why we are stronger than them, even if they have plenty of Mana Users compared to us," he proudly declared.

Upon hearing this, Wallace was surprised. 'A highly skilled member? A peak one at that?'

The mere mention of it ignited a feeling of strength within him, even though he didn't fully understand what it meant.

Immediately, he realized that he needed to read the content of the letters from the Vard Family and only the Mana User of the Toraz family. As soon as Wallace reached out, he was suddenly interrupted.
