Chereads / In Search of Amore: Who loves me / Chapter 4 - Date Night Delights

Chapter 4 - Date Night Delights

Love is one of the greatest feelings a lady can feel—the ecstasy that runs through the heart, the flutters deep within.

Every morning, rising to a sweet sensation overwhelming you because of that one person.

Seeing the one you love gives you a relaxing *uhhhh* feeling that you never want to escape.

Who am I kidding? I'm just a woman who hasn't been able to stay in a relationship since high school. At 28 this year, I don't have a man to settle with. I'm just another aging woman who missed her chance at marriage.

I've tried all the math and science, trying to figure out why I haven't been loved the same way I love. Then I realized I love more deeply than most. I'm the perfect Juliet to every Romeo, just that there isn't a Romeo anymore.

Drey?

I thought he was the man of my dreams, only if I hadn't woken up from it.

My phone rang. All these thoughts ran through my mind, lowering my expectations. I did enough to convince myself my newly found man doesn't actually like me, but it isn't working because I have fallen in love again.

I ran back to my bed in delightment to get my phone.

"Hello, princess," he said over the phone. I felt sweet. I was just referred to as a princess.

"Hey, Jaxon," I said as I fell onto my bed, sinking deeper into it.

"I just wanted to say sorry for the stress I caused you today."

He knows quite well he didn't do that, but he's just being the perfect gentleman.

"Oh no, it's no stress. I caused that all by myself. I'm just one stupid fellow."

"Hey, don't be hard on yourself," there was then a bit of silence. "You know what, I know the right place to go to free your mind," he suggested.

"Are you asking me out on a date?"

"No, I mean, I'm sorry if it sounded like that. I would just drive you there if you want."

"Hey! I didn't say no," I said.

"Oh."

I could feel the excitement in that word.

"Me, you, at Alinea, tomorrow evening," he added.

"I'd love that," I replied. We remained mute for another second. "Tomorrow then," I broke the silence.

"Yeah, and erm, bye?" He wasn't sure if I wanted to drop the call.

"Byeeeee," I dropped the call. Jumping out of my bed with all forms of excitement, I was delighted, ecstatic, blissful. I couldn't just use a word to describe that. Fell back to my bed, thinking of him, then I fell asleep.

Coming down from my car the next morning, I didn't want the girls to figure out the blissful feeling I felt within. I tried to act natural, but this time acting natural turned out to be the toughest job to do.

"Yo, yo, yo, yo," I said as I walked in.

"Seems like momma is all pumped this week," Harper whined.

"You mean she was this pumped yesterday too?" Wren, who was absent yesterday, asked.

"Says the girl that went out on a date yesterday, now tell us how it was," I tried covering up.

"Yeah, we forgot to ask," Ava said.

"I actually couldn't wait for you to ask," Wren replied.

Charlotte gasps, "Woah, gist us."

"It was, like, totally spectacular!"

First of all, he picked me up from my place, and he was looking so handsome in his black leather jacket and those dreamy eyes. We went to this adorable little Italian place downtown, and the ambiance was just so cozy and romantic."

"Aw, the girls said.."

"We talked for hours over the most delicious pasta and wine, and I felt like we really connected on a deep level. He's so intelligent and witty, and we shared so many laughs together. I loved how he listened to me and made me feel heard and understood."

"I swear, it was the perfect date, and I can't stop smiling thinking about it! I feel like I'm floating on air, and I can't wait to see him again!" Wren said.

"WOW!" The girls felt excited about it. Then I couldn't help but tell them I had found a date too.

"That was spectacular," I said. "And I also have a date up for tonight."

They all gasp. "Is it Drey?" "You've reconciled with him," their questions kept flying around.

"It's not Drey, it's another guy," I cut in.

"Woah," Charlotte said, "Do we know him?"

"Yes, he is the guy that brought his younger sis here yesterday for hydrotherapy," I replied.

"Uhn?" Ava said confused.

"Do you mean the man that came here with his young wife for hydrotherapy?" Harper said.

"Yeah, that one, and she is not his wife, she is his sister," I said.

"Why would you go on a date with someone you barely know?" Charlotte said.

"I guess that's the point of the date, Char," Wren replied.

"I'm so happy for you," Ava said.

Then the rest of the girls started their questions again, "What would you wear?" "I know what you can wear," but Charlotte stayed out of it.

"I warned you!" She went in.

It was evening, Ava, Harper, and Wren came over to my place. Played mom, got me dressed up and gave me tips on how to act on the date.

"Alright, alright! I get it," I said.

Then we heard a car horn. We all jumped in excitement. "Okay, it's enough," Harper adjusted my dress. "You can leave now." As I was about to leave, "Maya, most importantly, enjoy yourself."

I smiled back and left.
