Blair sidled across the dirt. He slowed his breathing and silently stalked the evil presence. [You are attacking in vain. I have never sensed such a weak existence as yours. Such an easy kill! Hahaha!]
The Daeva continued to taunt Blair while he slid closer. He didn't make the effort to answer this creature. In his mind, he already eradicated it, just like he killed thousands of others previously.
As the Daeva came into view, Blair's lips twisted into disgust. Squatting on a dead tree-trunk was a human-like creature. Besides its large amber eyes and sharp fangs, its entire body appeared to be bare of skin.
Each time it moved to scratch its bald head, blood splattered, making Blair's fur stand up in alarm at the screeching sound.
He was contemptible. Not wanting to delay any longer, the fox jumped into view. Instead of being surprised at the large fox, the Daeva smiled, his eyes popping out.
[About time you showed up. I haven't had excitement in ages.] He lifted a grimy hand. [Let's play,] he provoked Blair.
"I'm here to make sure you will release the human boy. I've killed many demons like you for millenia, so don't underestimate me! You're just one of many and should refrain from acting cocky!" he warned angrily. The Daeva laughed.
[Why must I release him? The more I torment him, the more energy I receive. It has been a long time since I have felt so alive!]
Furious, Blair let out a fierce snarl. His body glimmered, radiating a pale white. When his glossy fur smoothed into pale-white skin, he jumped in reverse onto his hind legs.
In a few seconds, he wore a white traditional Korean outfit, with long flowing raven hair and fox ears. He glared at the dreadful being before him with piercing grey eyes.
He pointed scornfully at the crouching figure. "My duty is to eliminate you. I will fulfil my obligation, even if I'm no longer Gumiho's servant."
In amusement, the Daeva watched Blair pull a whip from his left hand as his hands shimmered golden.
His whip snapped loudly as he lashed it threateningly at the demon, then shot it without warning at the bloody monster.
Daeva dodged backwards as if waiting for an attack, then dashed behind the tree trunk. The whip cracked and the trunk shattered, causing dust to fly around them.
They scrutinised at one another for a moment, then Blair lashed out again. Daeva lazily darted around. Irritated, Blair shot his whip faster.
Only to no avail. Daeva shifted, ducked and twisted like an acrobat, never letting the whip touch him. He grinned at the fox-man as he panted.
"What the heck? How is he doing that? My whip is supposed to capture every demon!" Blair exclaimed, aggrieved.
[What a foolish dog. Is that what you were informed? No wonder you are so bold,] Daeva rasped mockingly. Blair scowled.
"I don't know what you are talking about, nor do I care. If the whip doesn't work then—". He held up his golden whip, and it vanished.
As his fists glowed once more, he produced a sword from his right hand. The demon faked a frightened motion.
[A sword! Now that makes all the difference. I'm going to die! Oh no!] he yelled, before bursting into laughter. Blair gripped the sword handle in fury as he was mocked.
'You won't find this amusing for long, though,' he thought smugly while unsheathing the blade.
The blade hissed menacingly. Glowering at his enemy before him, Blair admired the razor edge of the sword.
"You're done for now. I rarely use my Nolan Kalnal on anyone. Be honoured that you will be killed by my blade." He took a stance, sword raised. The demon snickered.
Tired of Daeva's attitude, Blair charged with his blade outwards. His eyes widened as the demon ducked and grabbed his arm. "You—"
The pain in his shoulder prevented him from finishing his sentence. As he stumbled up against the wall, he stared incredulously at the bloody object.
He gasped, feeling incredibly woozy. It took him a few seconds to realise the demon had somehow ripped off his sword arm while dodging his oncoming attack.
[You didn't actually believe you could beat me, did you? What a dumb dog. Hahaha!] Daeva chuckled.
Blair was shocked. He had slaughtered many Daeva's during his time as Gumiho's servant, so why? As he watched the demon laugh, realisation hit him.
'This Daeva is not of the mentality kind. He's one of the strength types. We've been tricked!' he panicked. As his breathing became laboured, he wondered if he was going to die for the first time in his entire existence.
As the Daeva approached, he gulped, frightened.

I sat on a tree branch massaging my sore hands. The wind had blown so hard that I had to grip the tree so tightly that I damaged my palms. I wish the fox would hurry up so I can go home and soothe my aching hands already.
So far there came a lot of crashing sounds and voices, but no one came out. I'm so bored. He bragged so much, yet he's taking so long to finish a job. I sighed and rubbed my hands.
As I was about to take a stroll to stave off my boredom, I heard a crash right next to me.
"Hoh! What now? Huh? Who the heck is this?" I peered questioningly at a battered and bloodied corpse of a man, I think? His long ebony hair was all over the place and were those fox ears? He looked terrible.
He moaned feebly as he shifted his legs. Oh, so he wasn't dead. I poked him with my foot. "Are you still alive? Can you move? What happened there?" I quizzed dispassionately.
He gave another groan before he replied; "You-you idiot. H-he's coming. R-run!" I squatted down beside him. "I'm not running. You sound familiar. Do I know you?"
He gave a tiny laugh. "Foolish human. Well, i-it no longer m-matters. H-he's here." Before I could retort, I got goosebumps all over my skin. Without hesitating, I initiated most of my skills.
I took a stance and prepared for the worst. I felt a tug on my leg. "You're too weak. He'll just kill you," the fox warned weakly.
I nudged him away as I examined the disgusting creature that had appeared at the entryway. I shuddered at his appearance. It was hunched with bloodied bare flesh. It sneered showing sharp teeth and had glaring red eyes.
"Go away, Blair. You did your part and failed. Now it's my turn." I crouched lower, intending to attack. The fox looked surprised. "You know who I am?"
"I'm not a dimwit. I just thought it might be fun to tease you for a while," I gave a quick grin. He looked outraged but then gave a chuckle. I then turned back to the demon, and spoke.
"First you possess the boy, then you beat my pet into a pulp. Prepare yourself for a beating!" I flexed my five inch long claws threateningly, "You're about to be in a whole world of hurt." I always wanted to say that.
Not bothering to answer, the Daeva flew towards me, fleshy hands outstretched. What he intended, I don't intend to find out. I leaped up and then gave a downward kick, only for him to grab me. "Kuh," I huffed as he threw me onto the ground.
"It's no use. He's very fast. You must think of something else!" Blair shouted. I lay stunned for a moment as Daeva swayed closer.
