Drops of rain splash on her face as she folds the curtains aside. She found the weather too calm, heavy rain, clear drops of water pouring after touching the lavender leaf of her balcony. The air was fresh, hitting every bone of her body numbing every pain of her tired self. Not anything could be this soothing more than this for her; as if she was not the one, a minute ego cursing the thunders and rain.
She closed her eyes peeking out her head a little through her window. She let the cape of her gown roll down on her body and it fell on the ground. Her body shivered when the cool droplets were hitting her skin. She pulled her hair in a high ponytail giving access to her skin more to enjoy the chilly weather.
She was enjoying nature but snapped her eyes in a particular way, sensing someone is watching her. She looked outside and everything was foggy which was making it difficult for her to see anything but her instinct got her well as her smile dropped when she saw a pair of eyes gawking at her from far away. Mask on, black leather jacket, he was drenched fully.
The soothing weather suddenly turned abrupt as if his presence brought havoc on the already gloomy weather. She got frizzed in her position, those eyes were daring her to move for a second, and the very next second she would be dead.
They stared at each other like they had known each other for eternity. A thunder brings her senses back but the owner of those eyes seemed to turn like a dead body forgetting how to move. Enola's throat dried up she hurriedly closed her windows with a loud thud and her headache started causing her pain as she held her head and dropped down on the floor.
"Why all of a sudden I am having a headache oh God!"
She was wrenched in her pain and after some moment she recovered. Realizing what just happened and the mysterious man she encountered caused her this sudden pain.
She wore her cape hurriedly and again opened the window but this time no such person she gets to see just the rain turned heavier than before. Enola search as long as her vision could capture but no there was no one.
"Did I just have a nightmare again with opened eyes?"
She questioned herself dumbfounded about what just happened to her but the only thought she could not suppress that
"Why all of a sudden all the dreams seem reality to me!"
"Why everything was so natural? That actually happened right." She questioned herself
She noticed her hands were shaking. She was not having some dream, not not again. She definitely saw someone. She again looked outside nothing just the crazy blow of rain splashing in her room through the window. She kept her eyes on that very spot everything was right there the free, the lamp post, the board besides that just the owner of that pair of eyes was missing. Like every time, she got up from her sleep and the man disappeared like it was nothing but a mere thought.
--------
Enola freshened up. She looked outside through the slightly foggy tinted window of her bathroom as she was drying her hair. The rain was still pouring heavily and the sound of the rain was making it obvious for her.
She looked at herself in the mirror. Her perfect pale face, a little bit of brown freckles on her cheeks, black dense hair falling on her back carelessly, round black eyes, tinted lips even the beauty of a sculptured doll fell flawed before her. But still, she is dying from inside. How life is cruel to her. She almost forgot when was the last time her family noticed her beauty, noticed her presence, and noticed as their daughter. She exhaled a deep breath accepting her reality.
Enola was having her breakfast silently when both of her parents came to join her. They started to eat their breakfast laughing and talking with each other.
Their behavior was too normal like nothing happened last night and that is how they are. Unbothered, for them Enola is just an asset they have to show the society in a tag of family.
There sitting Enola was trying her best to ignore them not wanting to start any conversation with them. She was about to leave the dining table when her mother stopped her.
"That was very disrespectful baby what you have done last night"
She kept silent realizing what her mother was trying to say. She looked at her father who was chewing on a flat bread. She wonders what kind of man he is. Obviously the word man does not suit him. She again tried to walk out from there
"I am talking to Eny, so care to reply your mother"
This time her mother said in her authoritative voice for which Enola laughed bitterly and finally opened her mouth to reply to her mother.
"I am not in a mood right now, so don't want to waste my attention on you"
"Enola watch your mouth when you are speaking to her. She is your mother."
her father interrupts, how badly now they want to play the role of parents huh! Enola laughed at her own thoughts.
"Of course, now I have to learn from you that how to use my words and tone. The most important behavior! ridiculous. Just leave me alone for god sake"
Enola said a bit loudly to stop the conversation when she understood what all of this are going towards.
"Enola! He is your goddamn father, where are your manners and ethics that's rubbish"
And that was it for Enola to burst out!
"Rubbish? Me?" Enola laughed
"So we are talking about manner and ethics now. Wow! Father, you said? I mean a drunken man who don't care about anything just plays with the bottles. And there you go A ethical mother you are who is telling me to behave now"
She lowered her voice and said in her bitter tone
"But her own self does not know how to keep her clothes intact from a goatish boy in her daughter age."
At the end of her sentence her mother slapped her that made Enola's eyes to fill up with tears what she was holding back from a long time.
Her father left the dining table probably not finding the drama interested anymore. Exactly that is his actual role in this family.
"He is a son of a reputed businessman Mr. Cooper's son not a goatish boy! And your mother's boyfriend"
"His father is one of the most trusted business partner of us, and as for Tojo he is such sweet guy. I am just living my life Enola. I need someone to hold on to too! How can you question your mother's character for this? I am hurt for slapping you but you deserve it baby."
"And learn these codes of conducts dear this is just a lifestyle for Elite people like us."
Her mother stated without any regret on her face instead was justifying her deed. Enola was not shocked with her mother's behavior at all, this is not something new.
Normalizing a 23 years old boy as her boyfriend, is maintaining a class of conduct for her mother. After all this is not first time for her. She did not want to stay in that house anymore. She feels suffocation for standing such jokes. Only a bunch of sick people can normalize these things and unfortunately she born in a wrong family to endure this.
She saw all of the workers was hearing them lowering their heads. She wonders why, may be they are also feeling ashamed to see these immoralities with their eyes. She chuckled tired from all of these.
"I wish your class could have taught you, not to show yourself as a laughing stock in front of the society."
And with that, Enola left from there.
-------
A loud thud and the door was flung open. With that, the people inside of the house came running towards the gate. They all gathered there panicking out of fear that from where thunder claps into their home.
"What the hell just happened to our home and who are you guys?"
The old man of the house got struck seeing a group of armed guys wearing all black outfits pointing their guns towards them. One by one all the family members gathered and got feared to see such a scene at their entrance.
"Who are they dada" a little girl asked hiding behind the old man
"Are you guys from the Military; no your outfit is not looking like theirs though"
"Who are they honey and why did they break our door, its expensive"
The old man still was not ready to put his guard down but was knocked off from his action after hearing the words expensive from his wife.
"Yeah right! Hey, those black cartoon characters who are you and how dare you point these guns after breaking our door where are your manners? Who forgets to teach you manners huh? Let me…"
But he stopped on his tracks when he saw two man came in front of them walking. One tall, honey-skinned, burly, guy stands before the old man. He gestures to all the armed guy with his hand which makes all of them to put their gun down. The man turned silent, seeing a man like him they were confused about what to feel seeing him amazed or afraid. His appearance feels eye-soothing on the other hand his demeanor only reeks of destruction. For a moment all of them just stared at them as if they had seen a ghost or something. The old man then gathered his senses he crooked his eyebrows and asked him_
"Who are you"?
