The square-faced elf with an air of righteousness simply nodded solemnly, "Anyway, I've tried my best; what happens next is no longer my concern."
As he spoke, he turned to Aiwass and whispered, "Be careful these days, Bishop Moriarty. Unless there's something special, try not to go out... There's no need to even go to church. Where the candle burns eternal, there is the sanctuary of the Candle Master."
It might seem rather odd for a butler to be directing a bishop on matters of church and faith... but if one knew that the individual was a Papal Guard, it would all seem quite reasonable.

Oswald walked over and unceremoniously placed his hand on Diomedes's back, pushing him away as if to urge him to leave.
