Li Ang's overtaking method, if used in the early stages of the race, was actually quite irrational.

The usual approach for most riders was to follow the main group for a while and wait until the crowd gradually dispersed before the stronger riders began to accelerate, preserving their energy in the process.

But Li Ang's approach was more brute force, constantly accelerating through tight gaps to overtake, a method that required frequent deceleration and changing directions, wasting a lot of kinetic energy.
