Chapter 4 - Chapter 0004 Applying for the Security Guard Position

He Yan hugged her daughter and let the little one go back inside the house.

She ran out the door, stretched her hand to block the way, and urgently shouted at Long Fei, "Young man, you go upstairs first, this is not your business!"

Long Fei said earnestly, "Sister Yan, don't be afraid, I'll take care of this. No one can bully you when I'm here!"

He Yan looked at him unexpectedly, and suddenly her heart was filled with an indescribable feeling.

It was as if in the dead of winter, she sipped hot water, and her whole body warmed up.

The man's jealousy overflowed as he pointed at He Yan and cursed, "Great, even now you're protecting this bastard, I'll beat you to death!"

He swung his left hand, and with a smack, he flipped He Yan onto the ground.

At the same time, he raised the brick in his right hand, stepped over He Yan, and violently smashed it towards Long Fei.

Long Fei hadn't expected him to hit a woman, and for a moment, he was infuriated, meeting the brick with a punch as he charged forward.

He knew it would hurt, but he didn't care.

With a loud bang, the fist collided with the brick.

Contrary to Long Fei's expectation, the brick shattered as if it were made of tofu under the impact of his fist.

The man shivered, startled by him.

Long Fei launched a kick, landing it on the man's chest.

The man flew backward like a kite for three or four meters and tumbled to the ground in the yard.

Long Fei clicked his tongue, even he was taken aback by his own strength, not expecting it to be so great.

This kick of his had not been with full force.

Kicking a man of over a hundred and fifty pounds felt like kicking a child.

The man rolled on the ground and howled, "Murder, the wild man is murdering someone!"

He Yan's face turned red as she walked over and urgently shouted at him, "Enough, Du Jun. Can't you stop embarrassing yourself, is it just money you want? I'll give it to you, now get up!"

"Should have done this earlier!"

The man, clutching his chest, got up on his feet with a turn.

That kick from Long Fei had really hurt him.

If he hadn't been so eager to get to his card game, he would have lain there pretending to be severely hurt, trying to get tens of thousands.

He Yan took out a thousand from her bag and handed it to him, coldly scolding, "Remember this, it's the last time I give you money. If you cause trouble again, I'll really call the police!"

"Got it, you're so nagging!"

The man took the money and stuffed it into his pocket.

He pointed at Long Fei and cursed, "Fine, you little shit, you just wait. After I win some money tonight, I'm going to get someone to break your damn legs!"

"Fuck you, I'll kill you right now!"

Long Fei clenched his fist in frustration, frightening the man into fleeing out the door, where he nearly tripped over.

He Yan grabbed Long Fei, and once the man had gone far, she suddenly sat down in the courtyard and started crying.

Long Fei took out a tissue from his pocket and handed her one, saying awkwardly, "Sister Yan, sorry for causing you trouble just now. I'll pay you back the money you gave him!"

He Yan wiped her tears and shook her head, "I told you, it's none of your business. His name is Du Jun, my ex-husband. He bothers me whenever he's out of money, I'm used to it!"

"What?"

Long Fei furrowed his brows, not expecting their relationship to be so complex.

It was lucky he hadn't gone too far earlier; if he had hurt Du Jun, it would have been difficult to manage the situation.

Having been reprimanded by the police the last time he meddled in someone else's business, the memory was still fresh in his mind.

He went upstairs awkwardly as He Yan continued to cry in the courtyard for a while, then she also got up and went back into the house.

The night breeze blew into the room, slowly calming Long Fei down.

He looked at his own fist, wondering how his strength had suddenly increased so much, and his fist seemed much harder too.

In the room, there was a chair with a loose leg. Long Fei moved it over and removed one of the legs from the chair.

He propped up the leg of the chair and swung his fist, testing his strength. With a snap, his punch broke the ten-centimeter thick, solid wooden chair leg into two pieces.

Long Fei was stunned, slapping his own face, half-convinced he was dreaming!

```
He collapsed onto the bed, covered his head with the blanket, thinking a good sleep would clear his mind.
The next day, the sun streamed into the room.
Long Fei sat up with a turn, staring at the broken stool leg on the floor and rubbed his eyes.
Dammit, it wasn't a dream, everything from last night was real.
He muttered to himself, "Could it be that I've been possessed by a demon?"
Downstairs, He Yan suddenly called out, "Brother Long, are you up yet?"
Long Fei slapped his face, stepped out, and stood at the railing to shout back, "What's up?"
He Yan waved a set of keys and said, "I'm taking Tiantian to her tutoring class. This is the front door key. Remember to lock the door if you go out!"
"Got it!"
Long Fei nodded, ran down to get the keys.
He Tiantian's big eyes stared at him as she pursed her lips and smiled, "Big brother, you were really awesome last night, you kicked my dad into the air with one foot!"
Long Fei gave a dry laugh and patted her head, then lifted her onto the child's seat of the electric scooter.
He Yan bade him farewell, her smile much brighter than it was yesterday.
Long Fei watched her with a silly grin, actually feeling a bit like he was looking at an older sister.
He went back to the second floor, washed up with a basin of water, dressed properly, and got ready to hit the street to look for work.
Recruitment notices were plastered everywhere, on electric poles and overpasses.
He refused to believe that with his strength, he couldn't find a place to earn his meal.
After locking the door, Long Fei left the urban village, arriving at Binhai University's entrance, where he saw a crowd hosting a job fair.
The new college year was about to start, and it was also the graduation time for senior students.
Many seniors had not yet found suitable jobs and were either living in school dorms or the urban villages.
Every day, various factories, hotels, and companies set up recruiting booths here.
Of course, those that came to the doorstep were generally the less desirable jobs.
If it were a prestigious company, students would break their heads trying to get in and still fail.
Long Fei didn't care, he'd take any job as long as someone would hire him.
He did a lap around the job notices and came across one that had attracted a long line of people.
Curious, he approached and saw the sign was for hiring security guards.
Five insurances and one fund, four days off every month, and a monthly salary of three thousand yuan.
A bunch of college students were actually queueing up for a security guard position.
He clicked his tongue and asked the guy in front of him, "Buddy, you guys are from Binhai University, right?"
The tall guy with handsome features, chewing gum, nodded and said, "Yeah, what about it?"
Long Fei, puzzled, said, "I looked over the posting, and this company is just hiring security guards. Why are so many college students applying for a security guard role?"
The guy chuckled, patted Long Fei on the shoulder, and said, "Kid, you don't get it, do you? You've only noticed the security guard position, but did you see the company listed above?"
Long Fei glanced again and frowned, "You mean Lin's Group?"
The guy nodded and said, "Exactly, Lin's Group is one of the top 500 companies worldwide. People would scramble for any position there, even sweeping the floors. Plus, the office is full of beautiful white-collar ladies. Half of the city's beauties are gathered there."
"Thanks, man!"
Long Fei chuckled, joined the queue of college students, and decided to try his luck.
Everyone else had their documents; he had brought nothing.
When it was his turn, the interviewer glanced at him and asked, "Where are your documents?"
Long Fei hurriedly said, "I was in a rush and didn't print any!"
The interviewer asked, "Are you a graduate of this year?"
Long Fei shook his head, "I'm from Suburb County, just graduated from high school this year!"
The college students around him burst into laughter when they heard that.
They showed mocking expressions, thinking that a high school graduate dared to compete with them for a position.
