Compared with the first phase, the second phase was much more difficult; shortly after it began, contenders' helmets started emitting black smoke one after the other. Any examinee whose helmet emitted black smoke represented a failed alchemy simulation and got ruthlessly eliminated.
To craft ten types of elixirs, one needed to succeed in nine, and each type of elixir could only be attempted twice. The difficulty was substantial.
Alchemy is an extremely meticulous task; one must grasp every detail with one hundred percent accuracy to succeed. Otherwise, even if ninety-nine percent is correct, the lacking one percent can lead to the failure of alchemy.
This is also a function that highly emphasizes practice; proficiency comes with practice. Only by frequently practicing and immersing oneself over time can one achieve success.
