A deep, thunderous boom,
like a shocking clap of thunder from a clear sky, shook the earth and sky.
The air seemed instantly pressed by ten thousand tons, fiercely slapping the sea surface.
The entire sea area seemed to be smacked by an invisible force.
However...
Looking up at the sky, one could actually see nothing.
It was a sonic boom!
A supersonic flying vehicle, when speeding through the sky, creates strong shockwaves in the air.
The vehicle itself had flown away, but the shockwaves spread out.
Simply put, it's when the speed reaches such an extreme that even the air is compressed.
The sharply compressed air then releases suddenly.
It was as if an incredibly large gas cylinder suddenly exploded.
The air, compressed to the limit, expanded and released energy all at once.
The force it generated was by no means less powerful than the explosion of a ten-thousand-ton heavy bomb detonating in the sky.
