The training room turned dim, and the newcomers ran toward the only exit in panic. Zhang Lian, gripping a bloodied knife, watched her "colleagues" with a smile.

The blood-stained knife tapped against the wall; Zhang Lian whistled, squinting her eyes, walking between shadow and light.
With nightfall draped behind her, each movement of the minute hand advanced the darkness a large step forward.
