Even though her relationship with Jiang Lu had become irreversible, it was still somewhat embarrassing for her to admit to her son that she had become involved with a man so much younger than herself, so she chose to use this vague expression.
The current priority was not about recognizing kin, so she planned to resolve the immediate issues first and then give Cu Chulainn some time to gradually accept the fact later on.
But Cu Chulainn clearly did not accept this explanation.
"I'm not asking why you are together; I'm asking WHY are you together?!"
Cu Chulainn cried out, his words becoming nonsensical:
"Damn it, what I mean is, how did you guys end up together?!"
Jiang Lu was taken aback: "Ah, is it that obvious?"
