During the time when Shael suffered severe injuries, Shadow Sin found this Dark Goddess and helped Her regain strength.
Their reason was simple, both the Dark Goddess and Shadow Sin wished to plunge the world back into shadows and chaos, hoping to establish a world devoid of sunlight.

Although it couldn't be said that Shael betrayed Shadow Sin, she certainly owed them a great deal.
