Nepreis was truly frightened.
The title of the master of the Silent Night Sea carried significant weight, and anyone who lived in the sea knew better than to provoke Captain Aige unless a deity intervened. No one could match this pirate gang.
Fortunately, they usually operated within their own territory, and true acts of piracy were rare. There had been times when the seas remained calm and undisturbed for more than a decade.
Although Aige was powerful, he didn't have a reputation for brutality. There were no stories of them attacking defenseless underwater villages.
It seemed they only liked to target prey that had the means to fight back, like the aggressive and ruthless Sharkwa Fishmen. They had little interest in home-bound races like the Merfolk.
Simply put, they weren't that scary; to the Merfolk, the threat they posed was much less than that of the Yixi Manta Rays.
