Naomi still didn't know that her cooperation with the Undead had been discovered by her tribe, and she was now closely following behind Amberser, frightened of being left behind.
Before today, Naomi's life had been like a blank sheet of paper, although she had heard that the world was very dangerous, she had never witnessed it. It wasn't until the Witch appeared that she began to understand the true face of this world, and encountering Amberser was the second turning point of her life.
Legendary Rank, she had only heard of it.
It was rumored that Druids who reached the Legendary Rank could turn an entire city into a forest in a short time, and their natural magic was like a calamity.
But these were just hearsay, never witnessed with her own eyes.
And now, Amberser himself was telling her what Legendary meant.
Dozens of tiny Alien Skeletons, under the control of Amberser, moved like a well-coordinated army, moving forward, whether encountering hidden Slimes, Kuotuo Murlocs, Mutant Crocodiles, and so on.
No matter what kind of monster they were, they would be torn into pieces by these skeletons in an extremely short time.
Then the Souls would become Amberser's materials for casting spells, providing powerful buffs to this army, like group Strength of the Bear, Agility of the Cat, and so on, doubling and redoubling the combat power of these skeletons. The remaining bones of those monsters would become new Alien Skeletons, enlarging Amberser's troop.
The combat power of these little skeletons was so terrifying that Naomi estimated that even the army of Alchemy City would be easily wiped out by this army of skeletons.
Amberser's magical power seemed inexhaustible, and if this Lich wanted to deal with her tribe, he might be able to slaughter the entire Tribe of the Golden Vine in less than half a day.
Was this the power of a Legendary Lich?
Amberser commanded the little skeletons to easily sweep through the entire sewer system.
Facing those sewer monsters with little spell casting ability, Amberser slaughtered them very easily. How could they withstand a sea of skeletons, especially the Alien Skeletons whose close combat abilities had increased several times after Amberser's adjustments?
All these little skeletons were almost the same shape as Kazik No.1, with a three-legged structure and a pair of rudimentary claws, incapable of making too many complex motions, but their strength and speed far exceeded similar levels of skeletons.
Battle didn't have to be so complicated; just pouncing and biting was enough, after all, no one expected skeletons to execute a martial monk's sequence of punches like "Sun Fist"; there was no need for so many joints.
After Raul's real-world testing, Amberser had optimized the structure once more, and now it should be considered the Kazik Type II.
With his firepower fully unleashed, Amberser advanced rapidly through the sewers, with his army of skeletons swelling around him, until Naomi couldn't see the end of it, then Amberser suddenly stopped.
"What's wrong?" Naomi asked curiously.
"Hmm, seems like we've found it."
Amberser pointed forward, but Naomi could only see darkness, nothing else.
Amberser didn't explain, just commanded the army of skeletons to roll over it.
Soon, a cacophony of squeaks rang out from ahead as if the army of skeletons had encountered a swarm of rats and begun a fierce battle.
But in less than half a minute, those squeaking sounds died out rapidly, leaving only the click-clack of skeletons walking across the ground.
Clearly, the swarm of rats had been completely crushed.
The skull face of Amberser showed no change, he continued to calmly control the army of skeletons to push forward, and it wasn't long before a roar came from the other end of the sewer.
Naomi had also heard that strange scream, which was as harsh as the hoot of a night owl combined with the terrible screech of a crow at death's door.
"Is that the Witch?" Naomi asked.
Amberser nodded and said, "Exactly, her swarm of rats has pretty much been wiped out."
"Eh, why didn't she just trap your skeleton army inside the Illusion Realm? Wouldn't her rats have a better chance then?" Naomi asked curiously.
Logically speaking, it should have been the skeleton army that got affected by the Witch upon entering the Illusion Realm. Why would the Witch give up such a geographical advantage and instead send the rats out to fight the skeleton army?
Amberser turned to Naomi and said, "How can you not know such basic things, oh, I forgot, you Druids don't add intelligence, your natural spells depend on perception, borrowing power from the natural environment."
Don't be fooled, Druids can cast spells, Mages can also cast spells, but the principles behind their spellcasting are entirely different.
"Alright, let me teach you a little common sense, all spellcasters who rely on their own power need to consider a consumption factor. For an illusion of such a vast range, if you want to trap people inside, don't you need to constantly affect their senses?"
Naomi nodded as if she vaguely understood, as it seemed to make sense.
"At the end of the day, an illusion is a collision between souls, creating an Illusion Realm requires the consumption of one's mental energy. Right now, there's a group of Druids trapped in the Illusion Realm and to prevent them from finding their way out is already pushing the Witch to her limits. If my skeleton army were to rush into the Illusion Realm all at once, how could a mere Witch possibly bewilder hundreds of skeletons? Are the souls of skeletons not souls anymore? Her head would instantly burst open and the Illusion Realm would break without an attack."
With Amberser's explanation, Naomi had an epiphany.
The Witch couldn't possibly influence so many individuals at the same time, so that's why she released the rats. It just hadn't been anticipated that the rats would be so utterly defeated by the skeleton army, leading to their immediate rout.
With her face flushed with excitement, Naomi opened her mouth wide and shouted, "Daddy Jones, I'm coming to save you all!"
Amberser glanced at Naomi, too embarrassed to tell her that the Illusion Realm wasn't yet shattered and that her voice wouldn't carry inside.
But it didn't really matter, it wasn't worth any more of their time.
Previously, Amberser had boasted about how incredibly formidable the Witch was, claiming that only those of Legendary Rank could deal with her. In truth, he was just bluffing to the rookie Druid. For a Legendary like him, a character like the Witch was as easy to eliminate as snapping his fingers.
Amberser's thoughts had already pierced through the rudimentary barrier of the Illusion Realm, firmly locking onto the Witch. Now, with a mere wave of his wand and a burst of Ice Rays, he could send her to the afterlife.
However, as Amberser was about to raise his wand, he heard the Witch loudly say, "Enough, we can negotiate a deal. If I have offended your domain, I can leave right now! We are all creatures of evil, there's no need for us to slaughter each other. Can't we talk this through?"
The Witch's voice was shrill and piercing, causing Naomi's ears to ache, but she didn't bother covering them and turned to look at Amberser.
Naomi was worried, what if Amberser listened to the Witch's words and turned against her? Even with the protection of the Sylvanas Statue, Naomi stood no chance against this Legendary Lich.
What to do? Would this Lich lord keep his word?
Naomi had been trying to reassure herself that all along the journey, this Master Ultraman had been sensible and composed, not seeming like someone who would break a contract. Surely he wouldn't agree to the Witch's suggestion, right?
Yet, without any hesitation, Amberser blurted out, "How many Gold Coins can you offer?"
Naomi: (°ー°〃)
Would it be better to run away now?
