Surprise flashed across her face only momentarily before she regained her composed demeanor. Setting down her knife and fork, she picked up a napkin to wipe the corners of her mouth and smiled, "Do you need me for something?"
"Yes, I wanted to ask you about the result of the interview," Ning Xia said, her tone polite but direct.
Jiang Mingxia showed no annoyance. Instead, a smile formed on her lips, "Of course, please have a seat."
"Thank you." Ning Xia pulled out a chair, sat down, and faced her.
"Haven't had breakfast yet? Would you like something to eat?"
Ning Xia had not expected Jiang Mingxia to react without anger, much less to be so courteous towards her, given her abrupt approach, even with a degree of dissatisfaction.
She was somewhat astonished and pleasantly surprised, her voice softening, "No trouble, Teacher Jiang, I'm not hungry."
That was just how she was—if someone showed her a little kindness, she felt compelled to return it manifold.
