When the last customer left my little bubble of influence and when that giant pack of goods finally disappeared… when even that bag was sold and the proceeds placed snuggly in the pockets of my pants.
It was only then that I deigned to give attention to the guard who watched 'oh so carefully for me. I stood up, prim and proper. He had been there for the better part of an hour, watching as prices were negotiated and money was exchanged for goods.
I smiled and bowed slightly.
"To what do I owe the honor?" My bow ended with me looking straight into those eyes of his. The guard stuttered an introduction. It was quite boring just that he was a guard and that his was the honorable position of being the local nobles delivery boy.
I chuckled, not even bothering to hide the mirth in my voice, or the derision at his self proclaimed title. "Then you must have a letter, yes?"
