There she stood. Amongst the crowd of ever fading figures. They parted from their duties. Forges burned dry, dough was put to rest, blankets were pulled over children, and I… I stood amongst the fading sun.
My shadow loomed over the world, like a god amongst men. And- and all I had to show for that power was some inane- useless- damnable quest. My gaze stopped amongst her figure. She who stood with the confidence of a ruler.
"Welcome home." Was her demure voice. She grabbed my fingers and entwined mine with hers. Her breath played over my shoulder and gave these warm tickles of affection.
"Thanks…" I muttered. Rather frazzled at the sudden… affection. Yeah, that was the right word. Affection. She showered me with rose tinted love. Her hand entwined with mine, rubbing circles over the back of my hand, her head knelt against the crook of my neck. Like a wife would to her husband.
And that golden hair fell limply against my shoulders.
