Chapter 4 - the capital city

King Francis, the First of His Name, Bringer of Rain, Peace, and the Uniter of all Kingdoms, was deeply troubled upon hearing of the terror gripping the village of Helsinki. Determined to bring an end to the suffering of his people, he swiftly ordered his army to prepare for battle. With the kingdom's finest soldiers at the ready, King Francis vowed to restore peace and order to Helsinki, no matter the cost.

King Francis had a meeting scheduled that evening with the high-ranking members of his army to discuss the strategy for attacking the village and bringing back the alpha's head to the capital city, Braga. The second in command, his brother Philip, along with other members, waited for King Francis to arrive before they could commence the meeting. Shortly after, King Francis arrived, and the meeting began.

They all stood up as he entered, and they chanted, "All hail King Francis, bringer of rain, peace, and the uniter of all kingdoms," Philip proclaimed. The king took his seat, and they all followed suit, taking their places around the table.

"Let's get straight to the point," King Francis said. "I have a lovely wife waiting for me, and I don't want to keep her waiting." Laughter filled the room.

"Ha ha ha, alright then," Philip chuckled. "What do we know about this new alpha wolf? All we know is that the other wolves are afraid of him. All the swords given to the soldiers are made of steel."

"I need you to gather more information on this," King Francis continued. "We need to know more about our mysterious visitor."

"It's time to remind these wolves of the deal we made years ago," the king declared as he stood up and left, making his way to the Queen. "My dear, I apologize for keeping my lovely wife waiting," he said as he approached her. Queen Esther grabbed him by his clothes, demanding an immediate apology. After he apologized, she gave him a kiss and instructed her soldiers to leave the room.

"Did your brother attend the meeting today?" The queen asked.

"Yes, he did, and he will be the one to command the attack on the alpha wolf in Helsinki," the king replied immediately.

"Don't you think that will be too dangerous for him? I mean, since we know nothing about the wolf or its weaknesses," the queen expressed her concern.

The king reassured her, "I understand your concern, my dear. However, we have prepared thoroughly for this. We've gathered intelligence and devised strategies. Besides, my brother is one of our best commanders. He'll be well-prepared for whatever challenges may arise."

Despite having insufficient information about the alpha, he was determined to keep a smile on his wife's face. He couldn't fathom why his wife would be concerned about his brother. "Dear, come to bed," he called out to her. She turned back, a smile lighting up her face, before returning to the bed. He couldn't shake off the feeling that something was amiss, but for now, all he wanted was to see her happy and at ease. After dinner, return to the room. I'll have a surprise waiting for you. But make sure you don't keep me waiting," Queen Esther said, her mind preoccupied with thoughts of Philip's battle, eager to see him.

"Sure, dear. I think I'll be heading off now. There are pressing matters to attend to in the kingdom," the king replied, promptly leaving the room.

She waited for a while before following suit. As she made her way through the palace corridors, anticipation grew within her, her heart beating faster with each step, longing to see Philip once again.

She mounted her horse and requested the soldiers not to follow her as she rode swiftly towards Philip's house. Upon arrival, his gardener announced her presence and opened the doors for her. Without hesitation, she entered and delivered a sharp slap across Philip's face, followed by a passionate kiss on his lips.

"Why do you have to be the one to take down the alpha? He's the first of his kind, and other wolves are scared of him. Don't you think it's dangerous? Why would your brother, the king, send you?" the Queen said.

"My Queen, you have nothing to worry about. I will be safe. We have been dealing with this wolves for years," he replied with a smile on his face. "This will be glorious."

The Queen looked unconvinced, but she nodded, trusting her champion. "Be careful," she whispered , as her grab her by her hips and take her to his room.

As the king made his way to visit his brother Philip at the palace gate, he encountered a man on horseback who had fled Helsinki on the night of the terror. The man halted the king's progress. "Who are you to stop our king?" demanded a soldier, his sword drawn. "Speak, or I'll cut off your head!" The king, maintaining his composure, replied, "I am from Helsinki, my lord. I've heard that you will be leading an army to take down the alpha wolf. I come bearing information about the wolf and wish to serve you, my king." With his head bowed, the man responded, "Then it is my brother you should be speaking to. Please, allow me to accompany you." Together with one of the soldiers, he mounted a horse and rode to Philip's house immediately upon hearing the king's arrival announcement. The queen, upset because she hadn't been able to see Philip, left his room and waited for her husband's arrival. As Philip stood by her side, the door opened, and the king entered. They both bowed their heads. "My dear, what are you doing here?" asked the king. "I only came to pay my last visit before you send him off to die," replied the queen. "I will leave you both to talk," she added, and then she left, getting on her horse. The king gazed sternly at Philip. "You know, I could have you killed," he said ominously. Philip, his face tense with fear, replied, "What is my offense, brother?" Seeing the fear in Philip's eyes, the king softened slightly. "There are no soldiers following my wife," he explained. "But if anything should happen to her, I need you to act immediately." Philip wasted no time and promptly sent soldiers after the queen to ensure her safe return. "Good," the king nodded, satisfied. "I have something for you."
