All her focus was now on the beauty of the beautiful and pristine garden. Not only was it so surreal, it also gave out the air of serenity.
A place where she could escape reality for a while and appreciate nature that calmly soothed her with just its mere presence.
With her eyes trained on the beautiful butterflies that hovered over the immense oasis with variety of flowers, the older man led her through the cobblestone paths that eventually led then to a small pond.
"Wow!"
A single word escaped her lips and while her gaze lingered on the pond, she heard the man say,
"Stunning, isn't it. Whenever I come here, I find myself reminiscing about my wife because this happened to be her favourite place."
Now with his words, she turned her head to face the old man to which there was a smile on his face. One that conveyed memories that brought out different emotions, but mostly, pain.
"You must miss her a lot."
Her utterance did not bring any response from senior Hamilton and instead, he just nodded his head.
For almost a whole minute, the two were indulged in their own thoughts where Larissa found herself grieving for her mother who had left her without any goodbyes.
Losing her had left a void that could never be filled because every time she closed her eyes at night, all she could think of was how she had left and now in that comfortable silent, her eyes glistened with unshed tears.
"You also lost a loved one."
Senior Hamilton was the one to break the silence and blinking back the tears that had threatened to come out, she whispered,
"My mother." Changing the topic so that she could lighten the mood, she added,
"How is it that you are looking for a caregiver? You seem to be in a perfect condition."
"Let's just say that I'm looking for someone to talk to. It really gets lonely here considering how everyone in this family is busy doing their own thing. Sometimes I wish that my grandchildren were younger."
