Chapter 110: Could "World" Actually Be a Nanny?

Audrey recalled Alice's words from the Tarot Club meeting on Monday.

What is fate?

Alice's voice continued to echo:

"When I first woke up, a Sequence 7 'Lucky One' fell to his death right in front of me. By coincidence, I swallowed his extraordinary characteristic.

"Just from the name, you can tell it's a sequence that improves luck—yet he was unlucky enough to fall to his death.

"Later, there was the person carrying the 'True Creator's' offspring—she collapsed, her arm transforming into a bone blade that cut her in half...

"After that, it was the demon hound... Well, it didn't die. Perhaps it keenly sensed the hidden danger and fled.

"And now..."

Alice didn't finish her sentence, but Audrey remembered Charlie, who was supposedly going to be encountered by chance. She hesitantly asked, "Do you think he'll suddenly fall to his death in front of you or one of us?"

"No," Alice shook her head, "Although I think he'll definitely die in some bizarre way... honestly, fate shouldn't be so uncreative as to keep making people fall to their deaths, right?"

Seeing Alice criticize fate's lack of creativity, Audrey suddenly didn't know what to say.

In her silence, Alice pushed her empty cup forward again, looking at her expectantly.

After a moment, Audrey asked, "You really didn't come specifically for ice cream this time?"

"Not this time..." Alice answered softly.

"...So next time you will?" Audrey caught the implication in Alice's words.

Alice looked up and began studying the patterns on the ceiling.

Audrey, with a headache, asked the maid to bring a third serving of ice cream. Then she inquired, "Actually, I'm a bit curious... how old are you exactly?"

"This body is probably around 15 or 16 years old," Alice said, eyeing the door eagerly.

"This body?" Alice's choice of words once again alerted Audrey.

Alice blinked and started playing dumb.

Viscount Glaint entered with the maid. He said to Audrey, "I'm sorry to interrupt, but this is the third serving of ice cream you've requested."

"It's for her," Audrey pointed at Alice, who was staring longingly at the maid.

Viscount Glaint looked at Alice, seemingly wanting to say something but holding back. Alice reluctantly tore her gaze away from the ice cream and asked confusedly, "So I can't have a third serving?"

Viscount Glaint couldn't help but have the same doubt as Audrey—isn't this girl here specifically for ice cream?

"Let her eat, Glaint," Audrey sighed helplessly, "She's... one of those people."

Viscount Glaint's pupils constricted. After asking the maid to set down the ice cream and leave, he looked excitedly at Audrey, about to seek confirmation. However, he heard Alice's emotionless voice:

"I didn't give you permission to tell others about me, Audrey."

Alice's gaze fell gently on Audrey. Though there was no pressure, Audrey felt the atmosphere in the room suddenly freeze. She unconsciously held her breath.

Viscount Glaint's reaction was no better. Although he wasn't Alice's main focus, the spiritual warning made his face pale.

At this moment, Audrey finally wholeheartedly accepted the hypothesis that Alice might be a powerful extraordinary being or even a god.

Just as Audrey felt she was about to suffocate, Alice finally withdrew her gaze, scooped up a spoonful of ice cream, and revealed a delighted smile.

Audrey quietly let out a sigh of relief, adjusted her somewhat stiff posture, and tentatively asked Alice:

"I'm sorry, I mean, since I've already told him, how should we handle this?"

Alice looked up, licked her lips, and asked, "Do you know what the protagonist in a typical novel would say?"

Audrey shook her head.

Alice glanced at the speechless Glaint, then at the ice cream in her hand, tilted her head and said, "Never mind, it doesn't seem right to scare the host of the party like this."

After a moment of silence, Glaint opened the door and told the maid outside, "Have someone bring another serving of ice cream."

Alice then sweetly said to Viscount Glaint, "Thank you~"

After a pause, Alice continued, "Can I be invited to the next party too?"

Viscount Glaint hesitantly looked at Audrey.

Audrey was silent for a moment before saying, "She probably just wants to eat ice cream."

Viscount Glaint opened his mouth, then closed it, organizing his thoughts several times before dryly replying, "No problem."

"Yay!" Alice got excited for a moment, then as if remembering something, added, "Oh right, don't tell anyone about me."

Although Alice made it sound casual, as someone who had just faced the pressure directly, Audrey took this to heart.

Viscount Glaint also quickly expressed his understanding. Then, using the excuse that as the host he couldn't be away for too long, he left the room that had left him traumatized.

Now, only Alice and Audrey remained in the room.

However, after the previous experience, Audrey could no longer chat with Alice as carefree as before.

"Hey," Alice tilted her head, deciding to provide some psychological counseling for Audrey, "Don't you think I seem much more approachable than Mr. Fool?"

Audrey looked at Alice, wanting to say something but holding back—the childlike innocence did make her seem more approachable, but if one considered that she might be a resurrected god, that childishness could also remind one of capriciousness.

"Audrey," Alice narrowed her eyes, looking at her and saying softly, "I like the feeling of living as a human."

...

By the time Alice finished her fourth serving of ice cream and looked at her with pitiful eyes, Audrey's attitude towards Alice had completely changed from reverence to seeing her as a mischievous child.

She firmly refused Alice's request for a fifth serving of ice cream, dragged Alice out of the room, and watched her the whole time to prevent her from eating more ice cream.

As Alice left glumly, Audrey even had the urge to send her home to prevent her from buying another serving of ice cream on the way—otherwise, she really worried Alice would eat herself into the hospital!

...So could "World" actually be sent by Mr. Fool to babysit?

Of course, Audrey didn't ask this question out loud. She only exchanged addresses with Alice and repeatedly promised to invite Alice over once she could host her own parties.
