Chapter 11: A Witch?!
Alice couldn't smoothly wait for the underground market—she was called away to help.
Last night, Triss entered the underground market to purchase materials and was discovered. Fleeing to the lower streets of Iron Cross, the Punishers found Triss's temporary residence there, but the trail ended.
"Why me? Don't the Punishers have someone who can track?" Alice Kingsley, who didn't want to work, complained discontentedly.
"There's a senior voyeur at the Heart of Mechanics, I even suspect he's ascended to Sequence 8, but in divination, perhaps you have an advantage, and there's your dream…"
Dunn explained, but Alice felt that the main reason was the dream she had. Perhaps after hearing about it, the Punishers thought it would be better for her to take a look at the scene?
Reluctantly, Alice followed Dunn to the lower streets of Iron Cross. After handing over to the Punisher squad, she entered Triss's temporary abode alone.
The temporary residence seemed ordinary—meaning no personal belongings were found. If there were any, the Punishers probably took them already.
Alice wandered around the house, found nothing, and decided to do a dream divination just to get it over with.
"It won't really yield results… What should I write?"
Alice stroked her chin, repeated "The method by which Triss left this place" several times after writing it down, and then unfolded the dream divination, ensuring she remembered it.
her Consciousness plunged into the dream, and a slender figure in a deep black dress flickered for a moment in the dream, then shattered and disappeared like a poor signal… Huh?!
Alice's eyes widened. She took out a copper coin, silently recited "Triss has become mis Triss" seven times, tossed it lightly, and then watched the coin tumble and fall.
It was the king's portrait.
Alice emotionlessly wrote down "Triss's current location" and tried to enter the dream divination—then she was ruthlessly ejected.
"Was the divination interfered with? Why not before… Was it just discovered now?" Alice blinked in confusion and decided to divinate one last time.
She wrote down "The reason Triss became Triss" on paper, then sank into the dream.
Alice saw a "book" pass from a woman's hand to a man's hand in the dream. The "book" had an ancient and mottled bronze shell with a strange star-shaped lock hanging next to it, and on that bronze shell was written—Witch.
"…" Alice was so shocked she didn't know what expression to make. She could only seemingly calmly pack up and then absentmindedly walk downstairs.
"Don't worry if there's no result, calling you was just to try your luck." Dunn obviously misunderstood Alice's expression.
Alice sighed weakly, shook her head without responding to Dunn, and turned to the Punishers: "I couldn't divine her location… The divination was interfered with."
The Punishers showed a knowing expression, these angry citizens obviously hadn't realized the difference between "her" and "him."
"But, maybe you need a new wanted poster," Alice added expressionlessly, "Triss has now become a witch."
"?" The Punishers were full of question marks.
Seeing the Punishers' expressions, Alice was very satisfied, feeling that her heart, wounded upstairs, was healed: "I need to prepare a ritual to draw Triss's portrait… Captain, did you bring the materials?"
"I…" Dunn was interrupted.
Finally clearing the mess in their brains, the Punishers couldn't help but speak first: "Wait, what does witch mean?"
"The potion of Sequence 7 for assassins, called Witch," Alice sighed helplessly, patiently answering, "Triss took the Witch potion and became the witch Triss… Do you understand now?"
"So, he's now a woman?" The Punishers simultaneously showed disbelief and incomprehension.
"It's she." Alice corrected their wording, though it didn't change anything.
After confirming she wasn't hallucinating, the Punishers' expressions were full of indescribable feelings. The calmest here was probably only Captain Dunn—whether truly calm or unsure what expression to make.
After drawing Triss's portrait, Alice returned to the Blackthorn Security Company and greeted Leonard listlessly.
"…What happened to you again?" Leonard was surprised to see Alice like this, as he had seen her like this several times these days.
"Haha." Alice forced a stiff smile, "Do you know what the next sequence is for assassins and instigators?"
"…What is it?" Leonard suddenly had a bad feeling.
"It's Witch." Alice returned to her expressionless state, confirming his premonition.
"Ah?" Leonard inevitably showed an overloaded brain expression, "Then, if a man drinks the potion…"
"Then he becomes a witch." Alice provided the answer.
"…Let me sort this out," Leonard's expression was very confused, "I remember you went to help find Triss…"
"Yes." Alice encouraged him, signaling with her eyes to continue.
"He was an instigator before…" Leonard continued under Alice's gaze, but his speech slowed down, feeling Alice's encouraging look was ill-intentioned.
"Yes." Alice looked at him approvingly, signaling him to hurry up.
"So, Triss is now…?" Leonard opened his mouth but still didn't say the absurd possibility he thought of.
"Once the Punishers have the new wanted poster copied and sent over, you'll see what the witch Triss looks like." Alice shattered his last fantasy.
"…" Leonard left as if soulless, leaving only Alice in the hall.
What? You ask what Alice is doing here? Well… she's going to tell everyone she meets next, the story of the instigator Triss and the witch Triss.
So, today, the entire Blackthorn Security Company, except for the ever-calm Captain Dunn, everyone who left the hall had the same soulless expression.
Well, it's good news, the church's sequence information has one more entry…
Once you start writing a paper, you'll find typing especially interesting…
