After lunch, we trudged back to my room, all of us feeling the weight of the morning's battles.
Lise had declared herself the queen of the fights, of course, and Zaya alternated between rolling her eyes and grinning smugly at her own victory. I, on the other hand, was content just to let them squabble.
When we stepped into my room, the first thing I noticed was Sapphire. She was sitting casually on my bed, flipping through a magazine like she'd been there the whole time.
"Wait," I blurted, pointing at her. "When did you even get here?"
Sapphire looked up, her expression one of complete nonchalance. "Oh, about ten minutes before you all got back. The door wasn't locked."
"That's not—" I started, but Zaya interrupted with a wave of her hand.
"Don't question it, Eileen. She's like a cat. Shows up uninvited and acts like she owns the place."
Sapphire smirked. "A cat with superior water magic, mind you."
