Sapphire.
That was the name of the woman who had just appeared out of nowhere, towering over Zaya like some sort of dark goddess.
The energy in the room felt thick, and it made the hair on the back of my neck stand on end. I was trying to wrap my head around what was happening, but it was all moving too fast.
Sapphire's voice was like velvet as she introduced herself, the weight of her magic pressing down on all of us.
"My name is Sapphire," she said, her tone smooth and confident, as though she was fully aware of the effect she had on everyone in the room.
Zaya, for once, was caught off guard. Her typical smug grin was replaced with a look of shock as Sapphire moved closer, closing the space between them in a way that felt intimate, almost too intimate. And then, before any of us could even react, Sapphire pinned Zaya to the wall.
I blinked.
