The tension in the air was thick enough to cut with a knife, the monstrous creature towering over us with its many limbs shifting and writhing as it prepared to attack. Lise and I stood side by side, ready to fight with everything we had. The woman with the handcuffs was still trembling near the entrance of the cabin, her wide eyes darting between the creature and me.
But instead of cowering or hiding, she suddenly found her voice.
"Eileen!" she called out, her tone breathless and oddly flirtatious given the situation. "You're so brave, standing up to that horrible beast. It's... really attractive, you know."
"Not the time!" I shouted back, my focus unwavering from the creature as it started to lunge at us again.
"I can't help it!" she insisted, her voice almost dreamy despite the danger. "You're my savior, after all. Maybe after this, we could—"
"Look out!" Lise interrupted, her voice sharp as she threw up a wall of ice between us and the creature.
