I woke up in Lise's arms, feeling the warmth and security of her embrace. Her arms were strong and gentle, wrapping around me like a protective shield. I nestled closer, not wanting to move. It had been so long since I felt this kind of peace, this kind of love.
My contentment was abruptly interrupted by the loud rumble of my stomach. My cheeks flushed with embarrassment, and I glanced up at Lise, hoping she hadn't heard it. But, of course, she had. Her eyes fluttered open, and a slow grin spread across her face.
"Good morning," she said, her voice thick with sleep. "Sounds like someone's hungry."
I couldn't help but laugh, the sound a mix of relief and joy. "I guess I am," I admitted, feeling my face heat up even more.
Lise chuckled, a deep, comforting sound. "Let's get you fed," she said, but made no move to get up. She tightened her arms around me instead, pulling me even closer. "But first, a few more minutes like this."
