Bridget POV

After brushing my teeth, I head to the fridge to get a cup of water. Two days before my birthday. Unbelievable!

"Bridget! Are you awake?" my mom asks.

I reply, "Yes, mother."

I guess you should meet my family. My mother's name is Theresa Stone, and my dad's Chris Stone. My father is a construction worker in the city. My mom... jobless. We don't have much money, so I stopped school in the 9th grade. We live at the edge of the forest.

This is one of the reasons why I'm not allowed to go out.

My dad quips, "Honey, Bridget. I'm off to work."

"Just remember," my father warns, "not to go into the deep forest!"

Blah, blah. Always 'don't go to the forest'. It's so annoying.

Anyway, it's time for homeschooling.

See, the thing is, my mother was previously a teacher in the university department, so she homeschools me every day. She says she had quit because she hadn't been paid enough.

I go to the bathroom to take a shower. As I am stripping, I notice a shadow at the bath's window. It is the shape of a... the shape of a... tail. A long, wide, bushy tail.

Like that of a wolf's.

I blink hard, and when I open my eyes, the shadow is gone.

I try hard to forget this, then take my shower. Nothing like this has ever happened before. Normally, the wolves don't come out of the deep forest.

Or could it be... a werewolf?

No, it's not possible. I found online that werewolves are normally in the city, where people normally are.

After I shower, I head to my room to dress up. I put on a miniskirt and a long sleeved shirt. All I need now is to comb my hair.

"Mom, tell me where to find the comb, please."

"It's in my bedroom!"My mom exclaims. I go to her bedroom, grab the comb, comb my hair, and head outside.

Ah, fresh air.

As I sit on a stool, I notice a silhouetted figure in the trees and bushes, the shape of a human. But strangely, it dashes at the speed of light into the deep forest.

What the freakin' hell is going on?
