"You—" Madam Shen trembled with anger, stormed toward Weilan, and raised her hand to strike Weilan again.
Weilan sidestepped, the door slammed shut, and she dodged to the side, addressing Madam Shen with a stern voice, "If you dare to lay a hand on me again, I absolutely won't put up with it any longer."
Madam Shen was startled by Weilan's imposing manner, but quickly, colder arrows shot from her flaming eyes, "You won't put up with it? When have you ever tolerated anything? When I hit you, are you going to fight back?"
Weilan met Madam Shen's gaze with a cold one, her voice icy, "That might not be impossible. Should I not fight back and wait to be beaten to death by you?"
Her mother had long lost any bit of affection for her. If she really cared about Weilan, pitied her, she wouldn't so naturally continue like this after all that had happened. How could she still have the nerve to say such things?
